Housemarque will release extended gameplay of Saros later this year

Vine Ok GIF

Interesting strategy to put this out randomly on a Thursday.

I'm a huge HM fan but...wut? And also...no shit, Sherlock?

It's April. Hyping for a video "later this year"? I get they have nothing to show right now but these companies' PR people are goofballs.

I mean ok, we should kind of expect gameplay at some point

Strange to me

I guess to be fair in this case, it's cool to know that they can show something this year. In this day and age we still get announcements of games and having to wait 1-2 years (or sometimes longer) to even see gameplay.

Them letting us know now to expect gameplay can signal that they're far enough along in development. Hopefully anyway.

And yeah, it's close to 4 years now since Returnal's release date (April 30, 2021).

Would have been much cooler to have just dropped said video around 'E3" time frame.

This just feels like a look at me moment imo

I'm hyped for this. Shame that the Returnal director left Housemarque. Wonder wtf he's up to.
He did a few interviews and posted on Twitter here and there. According to his statement at the time it kinda sounded like he was burnt out and taking either an extended leave or quit the industry.

"Focusing on family" and so on. I know Returnal was the guy's Demons Souls style passion project, a fuck it "either it works or doesn't" moment.

Returnal is one of the most addictive games I've ever played. I just played 3 hours straight last night and wanted to play and explore more of it.

Saros is my most anticipated game now.

I hope it's not another rogue-like. Returnal is my favorite game this gen when it comes to gameplay, and how I'd want a real current gen Metroid to be like. But since it's rogue-like, I haven't even beat it. I'm stuck on biome 3.

Show a game with CG tease of an IP we have no attachment to, then announce in a tweet you'll eventually show gameplay for the first time later.

I'm tired of teases at this point, especially in a market with so many other devs making games. Just show gameplay up front, I have ambivalent interest for this beyond Housemarque has made some other good games.

I don't think the game is that hard once you understand the mechanics. I did 7 cycles/deaths before the credits rolled, and I even don't play roguelike games, or soulslikes.

I love the vibes, sometimes I seriously get Nier Automata vibes because of the OST and monster design.

Definitely one of my most anticipated titles next year.
Returnal was so damn perfect, and this seems to carry over the same vibes.
Hope it gets a PC release day 1. This kind of game is so much better with keyboard/mouse.

The teaser very heavily implies that it is indeed another roguelite.
