Hello...
Sorry about not posting. Well, it looking like Houston's getting the West and South side of the hurricane, I guess that's good.
I left back on Wednesday. Took a flight out of Hobby. Now I'm chillin' in Tampa, gettin' ready to watch the Bucs on Sunday (for a change....). I've been watching the news and it's crazy, you can't get a ticket out as of noon Thursday, lines are wrapped around the airport....and I thought it was bad when I went on Wednesday (it was wrapped then, but NOWHERE near what it was like yesterday). The line was LONG! But they opened up all the kiosks to move it faster, didn't take me long. Security was short but then got long as the people who were ahead of me went through security. I actually almost missed the plane. Luckily, they had a mechanical problem. Glad I decided to take off then. Or, glad the company and NASA are serious about letting it's employees go and evacuate if they have to. I didn't HAVE TO evacuate on Wednesday, but it was coming, so I bounced (as they advised). Vacation on company time? Sweet.
Traffic wasnt that bad when I left on Wednesday (at noon time) for the airport. Took about 30 mins to get to Hobby from Clear Lake. With the stupid Bay Area to Friendswood exits being jammed as usual. Glad most of my co-workers left by that afternoon. Lesson, major hurricane coming to Houston, leave 3 days before it is to hit and by noon of that day if you want a comfortable ride....
Not really concerned about the stuff at home any more though, I'm sure it'll be fine. Unless the roof rips off....it was kinda scary, renter's insurance expired like 4 days ago and I didn't get a notice (although, it was my fault for not checking it) - I was like: "WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF?!" Luckily it renewed it itself and I just had to pay. Dodged a bullet on that one....sucks though cause my home is still being built, this is gonna set it back several weeks I'm sure....$%#@! More market price (+$100) rent!!!!! Did a few things though, like got some hurricane food supplies and filled jugs with water and got batteries and such and left them at the apartment in case when I come back power goes on and off and such. Not to mention, whatever I may need, I can buy here in Tampa before I head back. About to call Southwest and have them change the ticket to like next Wednesday or something, might as well make a vacation out of it.
No wild stories to tell...no OMG experiences...just chillin' in Florida.
Here's hoping everyone else is okay and making it out of town (if they are leaving) or got what they need (if they are staying). Although, part of me wants to stick it out and play nintendo if it tracks more and more north.
