How’s the portal these days as just a cloud device?

Wouldn't mind getting back into the PlayStation experience again. I passed on this gen. But willing to try portal since it's a cheaper entry. Is it reliable as a cloud device with the quality of the streaming. Also how often does this thing get updated with new ps5 games.

I'd tried cloud streaming from my PS5 Pro recently to play a PS2 game (Ratchet and Clank, I believe) and it was horrible. Of course, the experience is going to vary based on your location.

I don't have this setup but I would think this would be reserved for turn based RPG type games.

It has to first bounce from the server to your PS5 and then bounce again from the PS5 to your portal. I feel button latency just thinking about it.

Looks like nobody really answers your questions.

The service gets new PS5 games every month (every Extra/Premium PS5 game being added to the service is available). Quality is great, I play some of my games through the cloud rather than installing them on my PS5, such ad The Man Who Erased his Name, quality looks almost native, no real lag issues nor artifacts.

It's a great way to play PS5 games without owning a PS5, the main issue being the game catalog is limited to the Extra/Premium PS5 games (and classic games converted to PS5)

Afaik, you need a PS5 console because you connect your portal to your PS5. I am not sure if you can directly connect it to Sony's cloud shit.
