How big is your current gen physical collection?

3

Deadly Premonition 2 - wanted to play it uncensored
Shim Megami Tensei V - Christmas gift
Metroid Dread - I wanted the art book more than the game

I'm all digital otherwise.

Just curious to how many physical games people have..

Currently I have:
41 for PS5 (7 of these are still unopened)
10 for Series X/S
15 for Switch if counting that as current gen.
I actually haven't bought any physical games this generation & any time I get tempted to I think about remote play or just being able to turn on the game & not actually having to change games

Increased my collection over the last 2 years for converting to ROMs for emulation:
  • Gamecube - 43
  • Switch - 32
  • Wii - 27
  • Wii U - 5
  • PS1 - 24
  • PS2 - 73
  • PS3 - 22
  • PS4 - 4 (sold some)
  • PS5 - Demon Soul's Remake (sold the rest)
  • PSP - 10
  • 360 - 7
At some point, I'll probably collect some DS & 3DS titles since I missed out on both systems. Wish more Saturn games would get ported to new systems like Guardian Heroes (something besides 360 downloadable).

same tuning on a console and just picking a game is just easy and fun to me.

I'm seriously surprised at how many people are digital only on here!!

I have around 20 PS5
Less than 5 in Series X including STALKER 2 Collector
Between 150 and 200 Switch. Including many cool stuff from Limited Run and simply nice collector's like Unicorn Overlord and Binding of isaac.
I'll include the Chromatic Modretro. I got all the game released until now. They're like gameboy games if anyone is wondering.

Nintendo Switch has been the most fun I had collecting. I especially like getting 3rd party ports you would think would run like shit. For exemple, the Crysis trilogy!

PS5-20
Series X- 10
Looking at my PS4 library i got about 100 games or so. I dont buy digital games for consoles either. This gen has been super weak.

2 (PS5)
Astro Bot
GoW Ragnarok

Far from xbox/wii/ps3/psp buying tons of games constantly. Then add Gamefly to the mix and it created the biggest backlog that I could never complete

I was subscribed to PS+ Extra for like 2 or 3 years and that definitely cannibalized the amount of purchases i did this gen. Games like Demon Souls, Returnal, and many others that was on my purchase list, ended up being left out after i played them o the subscription service. This resulted in the gen with the least amount of purchases since the Dreamcast. So far i bought 12 PS5 physical games, and maybe 1 or 2 digital from promos.

Switch only basically, something around 25 games.

I also have a few 360 and OG Xbox discs, only thing that goes in my XBX.... but I assume those don't count lol

Switch is pretty large - close to 100 titles. Ps5 is recently accelerating as deals increase in volume, but still maybe only 10-20 items. My Ps4/Ps3/360 collection has grown quite a bit in the same time due to the availability and prices.

My current library. Still a hefty backlog to get through.

You can tell this is a very American centric forum. I think I only have digital:
- That Zelda game with the fox. (I forgot that I have the box as well)
- Civ VII (no point on having the disk here)
- RE2 & 3 (same as above until they released the disks a while ago: planning on getting them).

Everything else is physical. You monsters are destroying my hobby.

It's ok. I have other hobbies.

:messenger_grinning_smiling: how is buying physical copies an American thing? Because the county is so large end sparsely populated that Americans have room to store physical games in their palatial estates?

Nevermind, you meant the opposite. I'm even more confused.

I'm even more confused.
Statistics shows that digital won over there. It's like a 80/20 split or something like that. They have a very recent story about fucking around and find out, I'm sure they won't regret the death of physical either. Although many parts of the country have third world tier's internet.

The thread asked how many physical games people own, but I see mostly drive-by "I'm digital only" shitposting. Digital only people are even worse than vegans in when it comes to gaming

I've been buying PS4 copies of games offering a free PS5 upgrade, because there's just no point in paying extra to get the correct cover. That means probably around 40 PS5 only copies.
Less than 10 Xbox Series X games - Stalker 2, FM and a couple of games in super low prices like Two Point Campus.

Only physical's that are worth collecting are exclusives. Everything else goes on PC for me if it has a PC release. Or if the console version is superior than its PC release then I will collect that. ex I have Gemma Onimusha for Xbox because it has extra content and mechanics and OG music. Onimusha remastered for pc does not. So I'll collect the better version.

Notice how exclusives get less and less each generation.

I have a lot of physical games. Basically kept all of my games from the mid 90s until now.

I mostly buy digital today and it shows with my PS5 physical library being my smallest at around 20 something games. Most of them are still sealed.
