How big is your current gen physical collection?

About 30-ish, ≈10 Switch games and ≈20 PlayStation games. But some of those PS games are cross-gen that I bought after getting the PS5.

6 PS5 Games; 4 - Switch Games; 1 - Xbox;
I don't mind buying physical copies of games. I just make sure to get ones that resell quickly—since not every game holds its value.
Once I finish them, I sell them and usually keep around 70% of the original price. I've done this with games like God of War: Ragnarok, the Spider-Man titles, Space Marine, and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Game Pass doesn't really work for me in that sense, though it's great for trying out games I wouldn't normally buy. So I'm keeping for my Dust Collection only the games I really love.

1 physical game on PS5, Demon's Souls.

I'm a die-hard fan of physical games, due to price and second-hand options, but I'm now 100% digital.

Statistics shows that digital won over there. It's like a 80/20 split or something like that. They have a very recent story about fucking around and find out, I'm sure they won't regret the death of physical either. Although many parts of the country have third world tier's internet.
That's why the future is a unified system where discs work just like portable/sharable versions of Steam's repository.
Everything is owned and backed up at the PSN level and games can be either downloaded from PSN or downloaded from a disc.
Optical drives and discs are a great, inexpensive way to store and access game data.

Had two: Returnal and Spider-Man, but I gave them away when I sold my PS5.

Now big fat zero. Going digital suits me just fine. And less clutter on the shelves.

Some ps4 games count as ps5 because their patches are only digital I guess

Last physical game I purchased was Darksiders 2 when it was a BRAND NEW release.
And I ended up regretting it, too, since it came few weeks later while everyone else in my circle was already playing it.

I have 4 games:
- One came with a second hand Switch I got, never played it
- Two from gifts my wife and I gave each other
- The other one I don't remember... Maybe it's only 3, idk...

Funny because most games I buy come on release day to parcel box or a day before release.
I was playing Elden ring day really and it was great. And I can still install and fight that 1.0 radahn.

Yeah, a genuine knee slapper.
I didn't ask how it was for you, but ok.

lol wtf. Is a forum dude.
I can answer whatever post I want just as you can hate better physical gaming for no reason. Some give all your freedom to some digital overlords

Kinda scary how people gave up their ownership and freedom…. For really no reason?
Physical games are cheaper, you won't them, mostly work offline patched or not.
And are not tied to an account.

We have a post here every now and then about someone loosing access to their account due to hacking or mysterious banning. Hundreds of games gone. Maybe it's rare but it doesn't fill me with confidence

Around 25 PS5 games.
Around 110 PS4 games.
Around 80 Switch games.

I've been downsizing my collection the last year. Sold off my retro collection of about 300 games from PS1 to PS3, GameCube and Dreamcast. I'm thinking about getting rid of my Playstation collection too and only go for Switch but I'm not sure yet. I still love physical but it's difficult and time consuming (and somewhat expensive) in todays digital landscape. I've been leaning more towards PC gaming in recent years.

Literally just that Mario Galaxy rerelease on Switch that they time limited. All digital otherwise.

Why the fuck did Nintendo time limit the digital release of that!?!

I have I guess 35-40 Switch games. I had exactly one Xbox Series game when I had Series X (Cyberpunk), but I got rid of it because I can't put it in the S (lol)

I don't have a PS5, just about 20 PS4 games for the Pro. Sorry GAF.

Same reason they limited the physical version to the exact same dates. They wanted an anniversary stunt, but also wanted to retain the old games for their subscription services. I'm not saying I love them for it, just saying...that is why.

If its still considered current gen( I guess for the next 2 weeks anyway), I have 13 for Switch and 3 for PS5. The latter are all still sealed( Final Fantasy 7 intergrade, TMNT Cowabunga Collection, and Silent Hill 2). My main ecosystem nowadays is Steam.

~20 Xbox Series X
~5 Switch

Don't know the exact amount, as they are all in the closet and I don't use my Switch, and on Xbox instead of inserting the disc of a game that I own physically I rather rebuy the game digitally when I start playing it.

Mine is really small. I've got 11 PS5 games, and 12 switch games. I would say maybe <5% of my purchases are now physical, last gen it was probably 75% in favor of physical, PS3 gen was 95% in favor of physical, and previous gens were all physical obviously.

There's only one reason for this, and that's prices. Game prices in Canada keep increasing and physical prices are generally higher than digital, especially when it comes to sales. Resident Evil 4 remake as an example, the lowest physical price was $30 very recently, not including shipping costs, whereas digital was already down to $26 a year ago.

I think I have two or three physical switch games, and then final fantasy collector's editions and demons souls on ps5 (was bundled).

Physical seems mostly dead.

Around 15 PS5 games. That's it. Just for context , I have more than 100 physical PS4 games so that's saying something about how weak this console gen has been...

5.

Stellar Blade
Rise of The Ronin
AC Shadows
TLU2 Remastered
Black Myth Wukong

I only buy physical games when I can find them cheaper than the digital version.

In Brazil is usually cheaper to buy digital games at launch than get the physical versions.

I have L.A Noire for the Switch

I can't sell it cause my basement was flooded once so the case is gone.

I sold everything else, wanted to go minimalistic

Doom 2016 is the last physical game I bought, and it was bought new.

So none.
And likely you had no idea at the time that that would be the last one. The thought gives me chills.

Have you ever considered wearing the cartridge on a necklace?
