How did FFXIII Steam do? Could FFX HD be next?

nothing concrete but i've heard of an honor deal. Honor and your word is a big thing in Japan. I believe the games will remain exclusive to sony platforms.

I find this hard to believe. Money breaks all culture. If they can make money then they will do it.

I think there's probably a mid-series blues. People are smart and know there there will probably be a XIII bundle once the third game comes out.

I half hope for XII with the zodiac job system because I never finished that game on PS2. I've actually forgotten how to play it. Also it's stunning.

The already announced there will be bundle once all 3 games are out.

Marketing oops? or just stating the obvious.

There is a mod that removes the frame drops?
My solution was simply to downgrade from higher resolutions (played through FFXIII PC, I did not start XIII-2 yet). The more stress my graphics card was under the less likely I encountered the 60->30 fps framedrops.

Thank you for making me smile.

I think FFX is very possible, but not for a while. Honestly I expect FFIX to PC this year or next year. It's the one game they haven't tried to shove out on other platforms (not even mobile!) so they must be cooking something up with it.

I'm using the evidence we have at hand, currently no Final Fantasy that was released on a PlayStation platform originally and wasn't released on any other platform within a year has come to non PlayStation platform so far. Both FF7 and FF8 were on PC within a year, yet there has been no real proof of any other Final Fantasy titles that have been only on PlayStation, those being 9/10/12/DoC/CC, appearing on anything else yet. It has also been a over year since the original release of FFX HD and has been announced for the PS4 as well, but no other platforms have been sighted or hinted at for its release.

I'm not saying it is never going to change, just that so far it hasn't and there hasn't been much evidence to show it is going to. FF3 & 4 are also much older titles and both were actually remade, not just "remastered" to play on newer platforms.

Wasn't Tactics PS1 exclusive? Because there's an iOS version of the PSP port. Okay it's not on the same level of FFIX, X and XII but it's still a previously PS exclusive game now on a non-PS platform.

No, that has to do with business deals and money. Not because of some honor culture.

Im not saying its honor, but I doubt SE made a deal with SCE to secure these remasters that would outweigh the cash made by xbox ports. Even the Metal Gear collection went multi

Unlike FFXIII, FFX has only ever been on PlayStation Platforms in any form, so at this point it would seem unlikely possibly due to some sort of contract existing. FFVII & FFVIII both available on PC in "HD" even though they are seen as big PS titles is because they already existed on PC beforehand, and the FFXIII was multiplatform to begin with.

That doesn't mean anything, Sony owns the publishing rights of Final Fantasy VII in Europe yet the game is still out on PC. I'm not saying FFX is gonna make it to PC, but there's no reason to actually prevent it from coming.

I hope it does come though, even though I play mostly on Playstation, I'd love to see the mod community create more competent high-res textures for the game. FFVII Bootloader texture pack made the game a lot more playable than it would have been otherwise.

It's better than the PS3 version. There are some frame drops every now and then, but still, I'll take that with 1440p and 60fps over 720p and 30fps any day.

XIII-2 was worse in this regard, but there is a mod that makes things almost flawless (at least for me).

I really do wonder how some achieved to play this game at 60fps. I have an overclocked 780 and i could not achieve a high, yet even a stable frame rate. For me the frame rate fluctuated heavily between 20 and 50fps with some rare occasions of the so highly desired 60fps. In the end i capped the framerate at 30 because the constant fluctuation drove me insane. In that moment I really envied those who can not discern the difference between 30 and 60 fps.

Wait for Lightning Returns first folks.

I see FFX/X-2 HD coming to PC as well but after the PC release of Type-0 HD

I would die if KH comes to steam

I suspect no matter how good the port is, Lightning Returns will probably do even worse than FFXIII-2. Just the same way as the console sales I suppose, it just depends whether Lightning Returns is good enough anyway for them to do more. Also depends on what Squares expectations are of the lowest selling entry on PC. Would be nice to actually play the game higher than 2 fucking FPS though.

FFX on PC would be great. Someone could patch the original soundtrack back in (really didn't enjoy the remixed one)!

I'm just hoping that Lightning Returns won't be a technical mess...
Can't wait to see mods for this dog

I expect both FFX and Kingdom Hearts HD on PC until the end of this year.

You guys are settings your expectations too high.

Do keep in mind that KH has never been released digitally due to licensing issues so there is next to none chance of it getting a digital release on Steam.

Edit: Sorry for the DP.

I wonder what that will mean for KH3. If the series has licensing rights for digital releases how will it get a release on PS4 and Xbox One? Isn't it mandatory for games on those two platforms to get digital releases as well as physical?

My guess would be they are redoing the rights in lieu of KH3. Or they would just remove and replace the Utada songs which would suck but if it's on PC can be modded back in anyway

Which licensing issues?

And remember that Disney published many games on Steam recently, i'm sure they are interested.

Even if KH1.5/2.5 don't make it to PS4, the fact that KH3 is (obviously) headed there means a new or modified contract will have to occur with regards to digital.

And I wouldn't count on referencing anything else, Disney or otherwise, in relation to KH. That contract itself and the existence of the franchise is bizarre and unprecedented both by Disney AND Square Enix in terms of licensing. There never has been any concrete confirmation that it was a Disney issue, just as there never was any concrete confirmation that it was an Utada Hikaru licensing issue. We just don't know, from the outside looking in.

I bought FFXIII for PC a few days ago and have been "playing" through it again (so much as one "plays" FFXIII). Up until Palumpolum I pretty much had perfect performance, but in Palumpolum I've started getting hitching even in the main menu. Not sure if this is normal for the game or not, but it is annoying. If there's some mod for fixing this (or making it better if it's going to continue for the rest of the game from this point on) fill me in please guys.

I don't remember how it played of the PS3 so I'm not sure if it actually had a locked framerate on the console or not, but I don't remember it being as annoying as the hitching on the PC version (though that's probably because it's hitching from a 60fps high which is more annoying than hitching from 30 I think).

Obviously, using DSR via the Nvidia driver makes the game clean as hell (or using GeDoSaTo if that's your preference).

Yes, I'm sure a penny pinching company like SE will dedicate time and pull resources off other projects just to port an old FF game to PC.

I mean

That's exactly what they did with FFXIII and XIII-2, so...

Well, Square's ongoing strategy has been to use time and resources to port older FF games to Steam.

I hope it was a giant success because it helps SE consider bringing FFXV to PC at launch. Japanese devs are starting to invest in PC pretty heavily and I want to max out FFXV on my rig. It would look incredible.

You mean those FF games which already had PC versions? I'm sure those were really hard to put up on Steam...

FFIII
FFIV
FFXIII
FFXIII-2
FFXIII Lightning Returns
FF Tactics

The posts just keep getting worse.

For a game that has spent so many years in development and cost Square millions upon millions of dollars, you would think a PC release would be guaranteed to recoup the investment.

I would have expected SE would have been happy to share the news if FFXIII had done notably well but who knows.

I wouldn't hold my breath for FFX either way though. For some reason SE have shown no interest in releasing it on non-Playstation platforms when the recent PS4 announcement for it would have made you think at the very least an Xbox One version would be coming too, but nope... and I doubt it'd see release on PC before it sees release on Xbox somehow. That and no PC release for Type 0 HD would suggest SE's Japanese branch aren't currently bothered about new releases being on PC.

Doesn't make much sense to me, but that's where SE are clearly at right now.

They are porting to PS4 so anything is possible on X86...that being said, the PS4 port has "only on playstation" emblazoned across the front so who knows...even though that probably only matters to console exclusivity, not PC.

Atleast people would be buying the game legitimately in that case....

You can't even get KH digitally on PSN. But you can with FF that should tell you something. I heard a while ago that licensing issues are why BBS never came to PSN.

Porting these games to PC is cheap and doesn't take many resources. Plus they know that there's a good enough audience there to support such ports.
