Oh shit. Now I remember it. Thanks. Yeah, I remember it was pretty cool, I had asked around at some local arcades (well before they died out) if that game existed, but no one knew what I was talking about.

Hey, I was younger then, and it was before the Internet... :)

Thanks. :):)

I love the Super Mario Bros. movie.

So many great, memorable lines. The cheesiness. The Elevator sequence. "BOB-OMB.", Samantha Mathis., "She sure makes an impression!", Big Bertha., The latino Luigi sans Moustache. Dennis Hopper. Eddie Valiant. "I hear sea turtles navigate thousands and thousands of miles on pure instinct!" "Not in New York traffic dey don't!". "MONKEY!", the 'sequel setup'. Dan Castellaneta intro. Iggy and Spike. The Super Koopa Cousins. "GLUK GLUK GLUK". Overly-dramatic closing credit theme, "Almost Unreal" by then popular group, Roxette. "Trust the Fungus!".

These moments and many more can be yours for only $5.50 at your local Best Buy or Wal-Mart.

As horrible as the MB movie was, I'm STILL bugged by having no resolution to the ending. In some ways I want a sequel, but in other ways, I know it would probably mark the beginning of the apocalypse.

Damn, Mortal Kombat is Citizen Kane compared to the rest of the vidgame movies.
Repeated for emphasis.

One of the more recent videogame movies that did all right for itself is Resident Evil (the first one, as the second one reviews between mild tolerance to outright disgust), but we also have been given the scourge of Uwe Boll.

I liked the SF movie simply for the fact that it facilitated fuckwits at my local arcade into dropping the pronounciation of Guile as "Gooley".

And re-cementing the mispronunciation of Ryu as Rye-You

The Mortal Kombat movie is great for reasons beyond how good the movie is. It is also one of the best movies to take shots to. Everytime something completely POINTLESS happens, drink. That includes pointless kicks in the air, pointless cartwheels that serve NO PURPOSE WHATSOEVER, etc etc. So much fun.

am I the only one who thought Mortal Kombat II the movie was better than one.

Probably. Aside from the brief Sub-zero vs Scorpion fight, the entire movie was a shitfest of epic proportions. Hell, it even looked worst than the TV series, that's how bad the speciall effects were.

Just remembering the "animalities" and the shitty blue screen effects and a bit of vomit goes up my throat.

That was the TV show. It was pretty bad, but not as bad as Annihilation!

though I don't think Annihilation tops street fighter. Whoever was directing that shit needs to exit business. Was uwe boll active 10 years ago?

No, Annihilation was far worse than Street Fighter, because unlike Street Fighter, it has no redeemable qualities. At least in Street Fighter, a good portion of Guile and Bison's dialogue is so cheesy and bad that it's unintentionally hilarious. Annihilation is just boring. And painful. And to believe I actually paid money to see it!

I don't know who directed Annihilation. I think it was some no-name guy.

The director AND writer of Street Fighter also wrote the scripts for The Flintstones, Judge Dredd, Beverly Hills Cop 3, AND Hudson Hawk!

Why hasn't Willco killed this man yet?!

He's doing a great job of killing his own career.

I'm moving near Hollywood in July, for real. So shitty producers, directors and writers -- your days are numbered.

So... basically a no-name director.

I've heard people say that, but I have no idea where they got such a pronunciation. I've always read it as Guile. I mean, come on people! it's a real word!

You pronounce it like that when you were 9 when it came out, and it just sticks. When I was younger I thought the song "In the Garden of Eden" was "Anagodda Davita"... I know! And I soon figured out my mistake, but every once and a while I catch myself thinking the lyrics are Anagodda davita.

This was the best SF quote

Quote:
Chun Li: My father saved his village at the cost of his own life. You had him shot as you ran away. A hero at a thousand paces!
Bison: I'm sorry... I don't remember any of it.
Chun Li: You don't remember?
Bison: For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me... it was Tuesday.

I remember that. The movie sucked, but that quote was actually pretty badass.

I still sing it Anagodda davita...

Just sounds better :)

Annihilation has nearly every character from MK Trilogies. And realizing that's like 40 characters, they just kinda mishmashed together. Some that should've been major parts of the plot, like hugely popular Scorpion and Sub-Zero, just pop up and dissapear just as fast. And nothing will ever beat me and my friends joking about taking a ride in Raiden's magic balls. I just can imagine the writer pitching this scene to the director...

"It's like a mix between high speed NASCAR and American Gladiators..... AT THE CENTRE OF THE EARTH!!!"

Missing Characters?
Smoke, Cyrax and Sektor kinda meshed into one robot.
Goro or Kintaro, instead we get fucking Sheeva :S
Shang Tsung and Kano, understandibly
Striker and Kabal are mentioned but not shown
Mileena I think

Am I missing some, it's been a LONG time since I last saw the movie.

ah. I was 13 when it came out so I guess that's why.

and are you sure you're not thinking of "Inna Godda Davida" by Iron Butterfly?

I could'.. .oh god, Simpsons tricked me. It actually is Inna Godda Davida, and Bart changed it to The Garden of Eden as a prank...for some reason I thought that was the name of the actual song. Man today has not been one of my smarter days.

I got confused by the same episode for a couple of years.

The title was supposed to be "In The Garden Of Eden." Someone had written "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida," possibly while drunk, on a demo copy. A record company executive saw it and decided to use it as the title, since it sounded mystical, and Eastern spirituality was big at the time, with The Beatles going to India and The Rolling Stones experimenting with Indian instruments.

The only thing that MK Annhiliation got right was the person that played Sub-Zero and his costume. That was pretty damn good and the actor looked the part. Too bad he was in the movie for all of a 5 minutes for a Power Rangers fight against Scorpion.

The only really good live-action videogame movie would be the original MK (like most other folks are saying) which was pretty damn impressive all things considered. There's a few decent videogame to animated movies though but that's not really what we're talking about in this thread =P.
