How do I find the URL to "Save As..." a quicktime movie trailer?

You know, how the trailer is generally embedded in a webpage. I've checked the page source and the only URL I find is one that takes me to a page that has the movie embedded in the page and I can't save the .mov file directly.

In particular I'm wanting to download the LARGE version of the "Rent" trailer that's linked to on the quicktime site, but it would be helpful for other stuff as well.

P.S. - And why the hell do most, if not all, of the "archived" movie trailers at the apple site REQUIRE me to have iTunes? That's just stupid.

Copy that URL and paste it into a download manager, or make it a link in a really, really simple HTML file and Save As...

I did that, but that link isn't to the actual .mov file, even though the URL ends in a .mov extension. It's actually a page with the video embedded in it, not the actual file.

Yeah yeah, then you take that URL and paste it in a download manager or make an HTML document linking to it. You know; make a new text document

<HTML>
<A HREF="whatevertheurlis'>download</a>

Then save it as [something].html

I don't think you're understanding me. The URL I find in the page source is:

Making a simple .html page and using that as a URL link doesn't let me download the .mov file, it downloads like 2kb page that has the movie embedded in the page, not the actual .mov file.

Open that mov file with a text editor. Your target is likely something like blahblah_m.mov as opposed to blahblah.mov.

Chili Con Carnage!
I remember that in old versions of quicktime (i guess its the same now) if you register it, you get the option to save the file in the little drop down menu.

i think 8bit is right. the small 2kb file just points to the real file...open it with notepad and copy the url

Opening that file with a text editor you can find the name of the movie file (rent_m480.mov).

Since in this case the small file contains only the file name (no directory or url), the movie is in the same directory:
http://images.apple.com/movies/sony_pictures/rent/rent_m480.mov

I just got home and was able to see the real .mov file name through Firefox. I was originally at my mom's house and stupid IE wouldn't even let me look at the page source of the link, so I couldn't find the actual file name. It let me look at every other page source on the web though, weird.
