It's taken eight years, but finally Game Pass is positioned to save the Xbox console business and give Xbox a point

Ok this has to be satire or a troll cause if not then wtf!!!! His son has multiple xbox hoodies and wanted an xbox themed cake for his birthday...

"My son is all-in on Xbox. On the TV he only plays Xbox. He prefers the Xbox UI and services (not that he'd use that term, he's not a robot), the Xbox controller, and the fact that he has Game Pass on there. He has multiple Xbox hoodies and bemoaned the lack of an Xbox birthday cake in the supermarket that was selling a PlayStation-branded one. When I ask him if he thinks he'll prefer PlayStation one day, he's typically pre-teen: "Why would I?" he replies as if talking to the world's dumbest man. He's not a console warrior, but it's fair to say that Xbox is his life."

It's neither. It's an article to put a positive spin on the ecosystem with the obvious negativity they knew was coming.

Article makes some good points. The SX launch was very poor in terms of software and it took them too long to right the ship. Also enjoyed the line about how Pentiment and Grounded would be viewed much differently if they were from Sony, but now they’re the type of games Sony wouldn’t touch.

I haven’t given a single shit about Xbox since the 360 (wonderful console, rip). At least Sony got Bloodborne during that time window.

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.
NeoGAF: shitting on Xbox and laughing at the green mice every hour of every single day.

Also NeoGAF: PS5 has cemented itself as the worst console Playstation generation ever

It's our shared negativity and spitefulness that creates a bond that cannot be broken.

If you start downplaying your kids for being nothing special you’ve failed at life.
But this is a dumb shill article so I stopped reading early on as well. And Gamepass is not going to save the Xbox console business, it’s already dead. But ports to PlayStation and Switch could save Gamepass since MS would get regular game purchases that way while still having them day 1 on Gamepass.

Nobody else cares what other people's kids do, say, etc. Whether they're a wunderkind, or not.

All it is is hubris.

The brutal reality is that although his son may be all in on Xbox, from my own son's experience it seems that the kids in his school and football teams with xbox's are the minority and of given a choice would switch over the playstation because that's where most of the others are.

We can all pull anecdotes out, but the facts show Xbox hardware is trending downwards. Ultimately the XBox brand will probably thrive, but as the biggest software publisher, so his son's wardrobe won't be completely irrelevant.

That kid is in for a rude awakening once MS abandons its console.

Gamepass has been around for 8 years, and on the Series consoles since their launch. MS didn't gain any market share, they even lost the little they had with the miserable Xbox One. So where exactly does GP fit in?

MS is so satisfied with GP, that they start to release their premier IP on PS5. A device that doesn't even have GP. And this same company actually wanted CoD to be exclusive for Xbox to begin with.

Why this move though? Because they want to sell software. And I think if they could, they would kill GP today, or at least remove its day and date free exclusives policy. Even the cinema business doesn't do day one streaming (except during the pandemic, and it proved to be a disaster).

I doubt GP is the future.
