How do you carry your money?

Allow me to preface this by saying that I work in Riverside County CA, in the 951 area code, which is home to the most fucked up backwoods people on the entire planet, so this may just be a local thing I'm experiencing.

People come into my store and purchase whatever they're after, but when they pay, it seems that no one carries a wallet any more. They'll reach into their pocket and produce a terribly crumpled wad of sweaty cash... it's not like they lost their wallet and simply folded the money over once and placed it in their pocket... it's like they just grabbed a handful of money from somewhere and stuffed it into their pocket.

Or, in the rare case that someone does have a wallet, the money is never in any sort of order, and it will take the average person at least a minute to find the correct amount of money.

Just seems to me like it's a waste of time and makes the person look pretty sloppy. Personally, I use a wallet and keep the money in order, so when I buy something it isn't wasting everyone's time for me to get my shit together.

What about you? Money clip, wallet, etc? Or are you also a gill-necked no-wallet having troglodyte?

I pretty much exclusively use a debit card these days. I keep all my cards in a plastic sleeve as I can't stand wallets.

Normally I carry the 1s and 5s in my pocket and the bigger bills in my wallet. I should probably carry the bigger bills somewhere else though.

Edit: This reminds me, I have to get a new wallet.

I try to keep money in my wallet, but I always feel like i'm holding the line up if I take the time to arrange everything back in my wallet so I usually take the change and bills, fold em twice and pocket it. Eventually it all ends up in my pocket. Not crumpled up mind you, it's still folded twice, but it's irritating.

really I don't carry more than say $500 (in $20s and $50s) on me at a time, use my debit cards for most things.

Small brown leather wallet my grandmother gave me.

They just did. People with money always keep a certain amount of cash on hand for whatever interests them. People without a lot of money have a dirty pile of crumpled cash and coins somewhere in their house. When they accumulate enough to buy what they want, they immediately wad it up, run out to the store and spend it. This is also related to why these people don't have much money in general, but they'll never realize this.

Why on earth would you need to carry even that much cash on you? Mind you I'm lame and don't hang out at strip clubs/rent prostitutes so I may be missing the obvious here. Or you're really addicted to crack...

to buy extra psps, of course.

I have a wallet and I always stick it into my right butt pocket. (When I'm at a train station or alone at night I put it into my normal right pocket. This is the society we have to live in.)

Sucks when I have a lot of change and sit down somewhere.

wallet. No chain though. I'm not a biker or a neo nazi.

Oh and since I'm a lefty I keed it on the left side of me bum.

Treating for meals, tipping and stuff like that. No strip clubs or whores. I don't like handing over my debit card so if I don't swipe it myself I pay cash.

I haven't used a wallet for about 5 years. I just fold whatever cash I have around my drivers license and credit card, and then stick it in my pocket. Mainly because a wallet won't fit in any of my jeans anyway, and well, I fucking hate wallets. When I used wallets I always misplaced them and also lost a bunch of them.

On a related note, I hate it when i'm sitting down on a bench at the park or something and my chain gets caught between the individual planks of wood rendering me momentarily helpless and trapped.

Instant cred in biker bars, though!

I don't think that's completely true either. I'm certainly not hurting for money but I just find having it folded over in my pocket much more accessible. I've got a container full of change that I just dump my change into since I tend to end up with a lot of it. It's sort of like a rainy day jar. I'm always well aware of how much cash I have at all times too. I tend to just use cash when the situation calls for it or I'm eating out with people. Otherwise I'll card everything. I just don't see the choice that you make on where and how you store your money is an indicator of who you are.

I have a huge container full of change. All coins of 5, 10 and 20 cents. (Eurocents.) Every December I go to the bank and exchange them for bills. Always nice, because it feels like a treat when it really is money I earned during the previous 12 months. :)

Wallet and its in order from smallest to highest bills.

And I keep it in my front pocket, not my back pocket so no one can snatch it from behind me.

I got 10 stacks in my pocket. I can hold a 100g's in these sean john jeans.

Wallet, but I rarely carry cash (I use my debit card most times unless the place I frequent doesn't have a card reader.) Cash tends to stay separate from my wallet because 1) I forget to put it in and 2)I can have something to throw at muggers and won't have to worry about having my account drained

Seriously, if I'm in town I use my wallet. In another town that I don't know the atmosphere or layout, I either carry no cash, just my debit card, or keep it in another pocket, somewhere people wouldn't expect.

Ordering your money ??? seems kinda stupid, but i guess when it all looks exactly the same you have too ...

our "monopoly money" doesnt seem so stupid now does it !

I keep larger bills in the wallet, but once I use any of it, all change recieved afterwards will forever be stored in one of the front pockets in a wad of green. Never to make it back to the promise land of the Wallet.

I also never carry more than $100, unless I'm going on a long trip or something.

I carry a wallet, but my cash is usually in random wads in every pocket of my pants. A dollar wrapped in receipt here; a 10 spot crumpled inside of a five there....
