What they should have done is drop Book 2 and focused only on Book 1. Cramming both books into 4 hours was impossible. The ONLY reason they did it the way they did (IMHO) is because the first book had almost no major female characters.
They slaughtered Tenar's character so badly, I don't understand why they even included her.
Fuck me, the "Amulet" of Peace wasn't even supposed to be a fricken amulet. It's like they ignored EVERYTHING that makes the Earthsea series what it was.
There's a REASON why Roke has no women in it. They ignored that (which is a central issue within the main story arc of the 6 books) just to make Roke look kinda like Hogwartz (which they completely failed in doing, btw.)
And who the fuck was that tyrant supposed to be? He wasn't even IN the books. And Jaspar? He never even attained the rank of Magus, he merely became a Sorceror and left Roke. Here he betrays Roke? And Roke FALLS? A much more powerful man (a wizard with a fleet) attempted to take Roke when Roke was still an infant community, and he FAILED UTTERLY, to the point where Roke lost not one man (or woman), and only the wizard actually reached Roke then... only to lose all of his powers for the rest of his life.
What a fucking joke. Ugh. And, bright idea turning Yevaud into Orm Embar, and making Ged's "true name" in the common tongue.
They got EVERYTHING wrong in this mini series. Not a damn thing was right. Ugh.
