After his brother fucked the country so hard, how did he even think he had a chance??
Seen that conference where Trump gets booed for badmouthing George? That is how. Trump can literally say he would kick out half the country, but implying that W. made a mistake pissed them off. Gallup poll has shown that the Republicans like the youngest Bush president just as much as the Democrats love Bill. Jeb Bush came in as the favorite for the nomination when he started last year, that has nothing to do with Jeb and all to do with the Bush part of his name.

It got dropped back into the economy. It's not like he put it in a mattress.

Most of this money got passed around the top

The fact that billionaires have so much extra cash to spend trying to rig our elections show how fucked our current economic policies are.

But no... raising the minimum wage to livable levels... THAT would be disastrous.

I feel bad any time I waste a sizable amount of money like that. Jeb! should feel bad.

Candidates who loose campaigns such as this should be forced to do a sizable amount of charity work after dropping out to make up for all that money.

I laugh when the pundits say "Jeb is out now so more votes can coalesce around Rubio!" Great Rubio can really use that 1%! Jeb would even fail as an endorsement.

$88,387 to add an exclamation point to his name.

Honestly, I thought that was relatively cheap. I mean the branding didn't work but hey, from an initial cost point of view, it was cheap.

And to think, when I got my name changed here, they threw in a ! for free.

Economic stimulus for all those tv networks, radio stations, poster guys, etc...

Remember a lot of this money was just sitting in billionaires' bank accounts.

The hill was Trump. He was fucked the moment Trump said he was running. Everyone assumed it'd be a Bush vs Clinton election.

I know I did.

But to be fair, it's not just Trump. He looked awkward and skiddish at every single live event I've ever seen him at, particularly the debates.

People pick up on that immediately, and it's a big uphill battle after that.

After saying that, he went on to completely sweep that state in the primary.

Thought Emoji Movie was good. Take that as you will.
It all goes back into the economy. Everyone spends a shitload during major election cycles, and in the end 1 person wins and all the others have nothing to show for it.

I dunno, I would imagine most of the money for advertising and consultants went back to corporations and extremely wealthy people. A good chunk of the "people" money was probably for very well paid top-level staff too. Not exactly a boost for the middle class.

I don;t get the source of this information. Did he just hand over his ledger and say "here you go. It's all here"?

There's a lot of legally required disclosure.

Like when Romney had to show his binders full of women.

On a more serious note, SuperPacs and Citizens United mean that you're only finding out a fraction of the totals spent.

Yes, because they liked the other stuff he said and because Jeb Bush is still Jeb. Imagine someone more charismatic striking back, someone that managed to convince an entire nation in the middle of losing said war that they needed to continue.

haven't kept up with all the details - has him staying in been worse for cruz or rubio? if so, money well spent

Definitely Rubio since he was essentially stealing his lunch (moderate republicans).

Cruz and Trump feed off of anti-establishment which Rubio and Jeb! have no chance of winning over.

I do disagree with the premise of this article as Jeb has left us with a historically bad campaign the likes of which are going to be studied for decades.

All that money did was strengthen trumps campaign. I don't think anyon in the race would be dominated by trump the way Jeb was in debates

Rubio and Bush aren't moderate Republicans.

The closest to a moderate amongst the Republican candidates is Trump.

Jeb is a big fat mess

A big mistake.

Jeb was a mistake.

What a big, fat mistake.
