This is tough to recall, but I joined when this place was apparently on its second or 3rd EZboard account. I heard the previous incarnation had red text all over the place or something. dunno about that myself, opa ages was still but a single small forum and I don't think I bought a gamecube yet... it was likely december of 2001 maybe early january. Konex3 was still using 2 accounts one for off topic and one name cloudystrife in the gaming forum , I recall defending his hate of Dragon Quest 7 and vagrant story and then getting banned by Drinky Cow for a month.... Yeah... i'ts been awhile is all I know for sure. Yet enough people have seeemingly changed their posting habits and there are more people here now...

Same. I joined right after E3 2000, when the MGS2 trailer kicked the PS2 hype into full gear.

Back then I went by Solidus, then Link, then Wesley Crusher, then just Wesley, now Link again.

I think it was 98, it was just before the Dreamcast was being released in japan. Solidsnake mentioned GAF on the Nintendorks board.

Started lurking here a lil after the Dreamcast unveiling. Struggled to register for a while because I used FreeI.net for internet service. Started posting a couple of months before Futami made his appearance here. I started to revert back to lurking after the GAF kept switching servers. Damn I just realised I've been a GAFer for more than half a decade...

I don't know if I had an account...perhaps I did, back in '96 or '97.

God, that makes it nearly 10 years!!

Drensch, what was your handle back then?

But I mainly posted on Dave's Sega Saturn page forum, which was multiplatform. Then moved to DCTP and Avatar's Saturn site...I forgot the name!

I probably started lurking around late 2000, but only sometimes. After the sega blast city forums went kaput, I started spending all of my gaming MB time @ the GAF, but didn't start posting w/ some regularity until 2003.

I went to WAGs boutique and all I got was a sniff
I was here since megaton, which was the greatest moment ever, but then I stopped posting for a while and then I joined the forums again on 4th July 2004.

I first posted on the GAF before it was called the GAF, I believe. I remember GAF making a big deal about a name and cosmetic change, anyway( although for the life of me I cant remember the old name). I didn't post on the actual GAF proper until around 1997 . Maybe it was 1998. Whatever the hell year Castlevania 64 was shown at E3. My first post was in a Zelda thread. I said something very 'newbie' and was owned by Maturin or Terrapin (or were they one in the same?) and Castellian in the same thread.

The best days of the forum were the EZ Board days, BTW:)

6+ years at the very least. I remember posting regularly once Next Generation Online impoded, and lurking for a period of time before that. After the Dreamcast died, I gave up on the gaming forum and now I'm pretty much OT-exclusive. ;)

Been thinking about this since that other "GAF the only news source" thread was being posted..

Myself, I used to post at the Dreamcast Technical pages and started lurking here in late 1998 as Dural, Sonikka and others used to post here as well....

Became a posting member in early 1999, IIRC :)
I was a former member/current-lurker of DCTP ( I loved that place around DC time ) I lurked big time at GAF didn't begin to post until the DC was released but even then it was very little, my ex wife also posted here as DC Goddess, i was DC Prophet...then i was at one point, DCX2000 and now and forever, DCX. So yeah around 1998, the summer before the Dreamcast import launch.
