I'm currently playing 3 different games. 2 of them would be defined by some here as licensed crap games but they actually play ok and in the end-fun is the name of the gam sooooo. It also helps that I bought both for cheap.
Game #1
Dark Angel. I freaking love beatemups so it was only a matter of time before I got around to buying the game. And wow-overall the game has a pretty diverse combo system. Lots of wall manuevers that allow you to leap from and clean some clocks. he games juggling system is also pretty good, there are different attack techniques to use,and the flying Neo kicks are also great and handy to use when youre overwhelmed. Also- the great grab and throw moves make for some nice evasive moves and neck snapping when youre pressed for time since there are situations when if you alert the whole area of your presence then you have to take them all out in a given time.
Theres also some great use of stealth in this game. In that if you run low on pulse rifle rounds to disable the guards(and you will because they don't give you nearly enough) the you'll have to use stealth to sneak up on them to snap necks,or to simply get by. Eventually youre going to be spotted though, cause there are alot of guards to sneak by. When that happens youre given between 30-60 seconds to take down all the guards in the area before total lockdown goes into effect.
The game is a major rush when playing this area, because you've got ninja sticks to use on enemies and a rage meter that for a limited time gives you extra strength to take out enemies in faster times. Thats not to say the game is easy with these though, because there are lots of guards and they often carry machine guns that do some real amage to you in the game. The game is quite good,I picked it up for 20 new. They had it for 10 used but I prfer my games with manuals so I waited to find a new copy.
Game #2
BattleStar Galatica. Really nice game. Solid control, nice visuals, great sound effects from the series(Viper blasts, explotons rock ,they sound likesomething from Colony Wars, when things blow you really hear them go off with a nice bang. And ofcourse the big one-theres constant cylon chater during dog fights, maybe its nothing to some but it'll bring a smile to your face when you hear and see old Red eyes in a small in gamee picture to youtr bottom left talking trash to you and your ship mates. "The human race is inferior, destruction to your kind is inevitable."
The sense of flight is pretty awesome with the vipers, barrel rolls, the ability to propel your ship at mach speed,180 degree turns, its easy to off once you read the manual because the game demands some funky button uses early on while youre learning your flight manuvers.
It does come at a cost though-these types of games have the usual trial and error type gameplay that does bug me some. You have to save flight captains immeditaely after accomplishing a tough task, othertimes you'll have to defend the fleet in a given time otherwise its back to the beginning. But its an easy game in my opinion. I haven't given tha much play time but I've already made it to the 6 stage with playing a few of them no more than 2-3 times each. In contrast I had alot of problems with Rogue Squadron on the GameCube, the first one anyways, never played its sequel. BattleStar Galactica is really about having fun though and th trial and error type play isn't as demanding as it is i other games, atleast not for me. Btw-the game is well polished. Theres a ton of unlockables like art galleries, conceptart, out takes, just tons for fans of the series. Theres also trailors to the remade series too. Inbetween completeing stages youre given cinamatic movies to view. You've got Balter speaking to Cylons, the Galactica cruising to light speed, all types of cinematics before and after game stages. Seriously-for 20 dollars you can't go wrong, unless you really hate the series or flight games.
Game #3
Project Gotham Racing 2. I had this game a year ago before I had received a corrupted save and lost all my progress. I started playing the game again last week again because I now have broadband and wanted to see how it plays online. Geez what a trip,I think RallySport 2 may have to step aside because this game is beautiful to play online. The races are so intense and since people are choosing some of the best tracks that I hadn't seen in the game its beyond awesome to me. One thing though-are you only allowed to choose the cars and tracks that you've opened up through single player,or are these rules set by the games host? Cause I'm pretty sure I never ulocked the Spyder in my single player game,it must have been a setting that a host had enables us to use.
Btw-how are the new courses that are for purchase anddownload? What are they....5 dolars a course? Thats pretty steep since I saw two for grabs. Are they worth it if youre a fan ob th PGR games? Or are they sorta disapointing?
