How many games do you have installed on your PC?

  • ~ 30-40 games on Steam.
  • Couple dozen GoG.
  • A few dozen games across XSX, PS5, Switch.
  • And a few thousand for emulation! 😉
Emulation does not count, if it does? I have more Switch games installed than PC.

Maybe 7? No need to keep things installed you never play.
The number of files slows down your pc more than the size of files.

For example

#Requires AutoHotkey v2.0
!+1::Run "E:\Steam Games\steamapps\common\LUMINES REMASTERED\Lumines-remastered.exe"
!+2::Run "E:\Steam Games\steamapps\common\Hi-Fi RUSH\Hi-Fi-RUSH.exe"
!+3::Run "E:\Steam Games\steamapps\common\DEATH STRANDING DIRECTORS CUT\ds.exe"
etc...

Pressing shift+alt+number key will launch the game. Put a shortcut to the script in the startup folder so it starts with Windows.

Not the most practical thing in the world but probably a touch faster than shortcuts :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Having to create the scripts + having to press 3 keys is faster than just a double click in the shortcut how???

Keyboard is faster than mouse. That's not really a debate. Especially if you're not already on the desktop.

Editing a script takes 10 seconds. If you're opening a game more than a few times it's going to be faster overall.

But like I said it's not really practical, and I don't launch games that way, or with shortcuts. I start them from Steam like a sane person.

Pressing 3 keys is faster than a double click??? O.o Desktop is not the first thing that open when you boot the PC??? O.o

About 100 actual PC games from various launchers and thousands of ROMs with box art in LaunchBox, which makes me feel like they're "installed".

In practice I keep launching the same 3 games and using my Switch for Retroarch.

Yes, pressing 3 keys is faster than moving your mouse to something and double clicking. even if you're already on the desktop. I can't believe we're even having this conversation. What's your WPM on a physical keyboard vs an onscreen one with mouse?

More minutes than on mouse plus I can't/will not really memorize all the 8000+ numbers of each game. O.o

More minutes than on mouse!? Not words? You're claiming that you type faster with a mouse?

Also what resolution desktop are you running to fit those 8000+ shortcuts? That's gotta be a multi-monitor set-up, huh?

I find my game faster with the mouse as I don't memorize the numbers for the games on keyboard keys.

8000+ is hyperbole but it is an ultrawide 3440x1440 screen. Fits 396 shortcuts on Desktop.

According to Steam exactly 189 games installed at this very moment.

I also have a bunch of non-Steam games installed (plus the whole emulation folder which is its own can of worms), but I can't be bothered to track down and count them with precision.

Until recently I probably had a few hundred. I mistakenly deleted most of them because uninstalling steam just removes your library, not just the fucking app. Still pissed about it. I had a laptop with several dupes that I used to recover some. Still many more missing that I just don't want to waste the bandwidth downloading again until I'm really ready to play. Most of these will sit forever until I get the desire and will to play it.

Silent Hill 2, haven't even played yet. But I recently bought 2 indie games that I have been fuxing with instead. Monster Hunter, got bored of that too.
