Only two games did I pay full price for in the last twelve months. Alone In The Dark (2024) and Silent Hill 2 (2024).
The former I knew was a fool's errand--a game that would rapidly plummet in price as no one was going to buy it. Still, I wanted to vote with my wallet and tell the industry that I want these types of games to keep existing, so I pre-ordered. No complaints, the game was worth the asking price to me. I had a very good time with it and would've pre-ordered a sequel instantly had the game not predictably been a major flop and the studio been shuttered.
SH2 felt like a no brainer to me. Everything I'd seen had told me that it was right up my alley, and I thoroughly enjoyed the game and the many hours I spent with it. If they make a DLC out of the Born From A Wish sub-scenario, it's an instant buy from me. Felt good to play a new real Silent Hill title since there hadn't been one in thirteen years. (I don't count P.T. or The Short Message as the former was only a demo, though amazing, and the latter was such a stretch it was given away for free and still not a good title whose connection to the franchise is spiritual at best.
