Maybe sooner rather than later? After Disney blew their hot load with the last avengers movie, everything after has seemed lukewarm…like the A team is done so let’s give the B and C teams a chance. I don’t really care about shangri la or the externals but I’m actually not sure if general audiences agree. Still, I give it 5-10 years.

7 years, only because Disney won't let go. They are replaced by movies based on games. This is happening now, btw.

I can't help but laugh at this development. I remember film buffs just like 5 years ago constantly laughing about people taking video game stories seriously, opposed to the mature, subtle themes and stories in cinema.

Nobody, that's who. They were right then, and it's only going to get even worse now when people unfamiliar with the game IPs try to condense a story to a format that works for a 2 hour feature film. We're in for dark days and many groans.
