How much did you pay for your gaming setup?

Why would you need 96TB storage?
HTPC nd virtual machine server, got over 1000 movies, and over 100 shows in my Plex library and growing. Always in 4K HDR where available (you appreciate things being in 4K when your primary mode of consumption is on a 120 inch screen). Its also used as my backup, backing up the usual suspects, files, OS, but also as a deep cold storage backup drive for games and stuff. Oh and Virtual machines too. But let me try and put this into perspective. My movies folder alone takes up over 25TB.

Its kinda nice to be able to access or share (media) all your data from anywhere in the world that has an internet connection.

At the time it was all bought? Still under £10k for everything I think.

I don't know what it's worth now but I paid:

£487 - monitor
£95 - speakers
£102 - keyboard
£22 - mouse
£40 - Xbox One Controller
£75 - case
£282 - motherboard
£490 - cpu
£1200 - gpu
£283 - ram
£419 - 2x SSDs (500GB + 2TB)
£232 - PSU
£75 - Cpu cooler

total = £3,802

and I'm about to drop £1,700 on upgrading my CPU, RAM, SSD, and motherboard. As soon as I can find a 7950X3D in stock.

so once that's done my PC will be worth ~£4,076

Get a 7800X3d instead if it's for gaming I wasted my money so you guys don't have to lol

I'd have went with 128GB if I could find any :messenger_tears_of_joy: I'm actually £300 under budget so have a bit more money to splash. I don't know if I could have got 128GB for an extra £300.
Buy 2 kits

Buy 2 kits
Can you do that? I've always read you shouldn't mix RAM and it can cause issues running 4 sticks at a time.

the ones I'm getting are G.skill 64GB DDR5 6000 CL32. i could buy two packs but honestly it's silly. I'd rather buy some games. I don't really need the 128GB anyway. 64GB is fine for me.

I assumed this was a PC only thread but it just says gaming.

My Switch OLED was £300. That's about it. I don't have any other consoles. I did buy my TV to use with PS5/XSX but didn't bother buying those consoles lol so I guess you could add another £300-£2000 on top of my PC. TV was £1,700.

Not much, it's from 2015 (Witcher 3 rig) AND I burnt my 1070 and put in a 1060 3Gb in its place ("just temporary until I change PC", said a confident little Fuz just before the mining craze and GPU price hikes).

TBH I don't really want to change PC, I'm dreading all the work to set up perfectily and adjust every little thing to my needs (I'm a bit maniacal). I tend to play only GI and pixel games anyway, AAA blockbusters aren't that interesting to me right now.

Would buy a console instead if it allowed me mouse and keyboard, tbh.

Anyway, I think it costed me around 1500 back then.

edit: the above was an ill conceived joke and I will now throw myself from the window

Adults drag themselves to consoles that's apart of a billion dollar industry, right now I'm hoping Zelda Tears of the Kingsom is good, it's the most important game to Nintendo.

4500 PC.
1000 PC monitor.
500 Steam Deck.
300 Oculus.
350 OLED Switch.
500 Xbox Series X.
500 PS5.
600 PSVR2.
3000 TV.

Damn almost 11k alone, not including peripherals like controllers.

My wife complained once about how much I spent on gaming. I then explained to her how much my friends spent on golf. She hasn't complained since.
Yep, while gaming seems expensive once you get to serious hobbies like cars, golf, boats, and so on, that far exceeds gaming costs. Unless you really want to be a retro collector, lol.

I have a friend into golfing, another into classic cars and third loves surfing, skiing, etc... My spending is peanuts in comparison.

Not counting games, got 3 Switches (kids), PS5, XSX, a PC worth about $2 couple years back (so not much now lol).

I am not counting all the retro consoles and games though.

Edit: Just one nice bicycle (not Electric or motor) that my friend who is into active sports has is like $7k if you include mods.

My setup consists of just a €1099 laptop with A 3060 and a Switch Lite. Add the price of some peripherals and accessories, and I think I'd land somewhere around €1700. Seems reasonable to me.

PC set up is roughly 3k, game room set up upstairs is roughly 6.5k, daughter's room is another 1.5 ish k, our bedroom set up around 300-400, guest room around 400, living room downstairs around 3.5k.

I feel fuckin icky typing all that man. I don't have any regrets spending that money as I love the hobby and I love the time I spend with my family on our consoles and PC's, but I would never brag about spending a lot of money on this hobby when there are others of lesser means; it's just classless. It reeks of throwing my meager successes in life in someone else's face....just isn't a good look man.

Tried the same thing. Then she pointed out that I also golf.

Gaming, golfing, and snowboarding don't combine to be the cheapest hobbies. But at least two of them are seasonal?

Uhhhh, I dunno, like a thousand? PS4, Xbox, TV, PSVR, headphones... that's about it. Got most of the stuff used and had to replace the Xbox One at one point. Maybe that bumps it up to the $1,200ish area. But yeah, not too bad for all the hours of entertainment I've gotten from it.

Ex2510 cost me £205.99 (peak covid pricing)

Switch OLED cost me £247.98 (Very new customer discount), Skull & Co Grip £15

PS5 DE £359.99

£828.96 for that lot.

Grabbed a New 3DS/Monster Hunter 4U bundle from Amazon shortly before they stopped making them - £188.61 (money well spent).

my PC accounting for lal the parts in it would be 900 dollars, but when you account for everything that i also bought to put it together and all the broken/obsolete parts (5600g that doesn't work, 2200g as a replacement for the broken 5600g, new mobo since the one i bought didnt support my cpu, new PSU) its more in the ballpark of 1500-1600. this is why you should do your research before you build your computers.

My Series S was almost 400, my Switch Lite was 200, i don't use either very often though. My 3ds was 200 and that gets a lot more love from me. my Vita was 150(?) I have a 40 dollar gamecube controller and a 50 dollar 8bitdo pro plus. Don't know about the price of my 4k tv tho
overall i spent 2540 dollars to get my gaming to the way it is now, not including the money spent on my modded 360, PS3, and PS2 as those are retro consoles and pretty cheap.

All that cash and my PC still doesn't have case fan screws, fast DDR4 ram, a monitor, a desk to put said monitor and PC on, and all of my storage besides my boot drive are all HDDs. I need to upgrade this bitch FAST

I play 2-3 rounds a week. People complain about day 1 prices but that's about the average for a round of golf if you ride. 4 hours vs 16-60 hours....
