Shhh I'm dead!
We missed you buddy. BO has been lonely these days.Shhh I'm dead!
Which is completely pointless and irrelevant because no one would actually try or want to do that. (aside from people just being curious in general, theorycrafting has its place in nerd culture)The entire point of the article, is to show that you will be spending that much, to have the games that are on gamepass.
Fair point.Which is completely pointless and irrelevant because no one would actually try or want to do that.
I havent managed to finish a game yet, but I have been downloading and installing the games on the service, to see what games fits my taste.
My best game so far, is fifa 21. I know it's sport game, but honestly, I have been playing that game nonstop. And because of that, I bought fifa 22 day1.
As for my worst (not that I hate it, it's launch issues made me drop it) is outriders. Huge potential for fun game. But launch issues made it hard for me to enjoy it.
So far, I have played around 50 games. Only few were interesting for my taste. But that is it. 50 games at $20 average is $1000. So far, I saved that much.
I started gamepass seriously in May last year.
Keep in my mind, that I got little brother and sisters who use the TV, which makes it harder for me to play alot of gamepass games.
I bought alot of games that were on sale, which I haven't played it yet. It would have been the same thing with gamepass.Sounds like you played 2 games properly in how long since owning Gamepass? FIFA 21 and Outriders. The other 50 games you probably never would have bought so you didn't save any money. A fair few of those 50 games probably have demos available so you could have tried them for free.
This describes my game pass experience…meh, I'm subscribed for 3 years; but unless there I something on there i actually want to play; none of this shit madders.
I'm not gonna play something just because its free. Too many actually good games coming out and not enough time.
If you just bought ER and HFW and didn’t sub to gamepass, you’d be saving money. Not sure what point you are trying to make here. Those small saves allows you to afford day1 games. That is the one thing I like about gamepass.
Elden ring and Horizon forbidden west were affordable because of that. I dont like spending money on day1 games. But when I have security like that, then i can justify spending those $60 (That is like 3 $20 games on sale).

Isn't that what the forums are now?Dude............why post this PRO-GamePass advertisement on this forum? It's literally an ad for Gamepass. WTF?!
Gamepass is only a value to people who just play anything thrown at them. Most people have responsibilities and time constraints.
Netflix is the same thing, too many choices of 99% bleh
I understand that, but you can just stop subbing whilst you plough through other games, which is exactly what I am doing, thus Saving money.Game Pass continues to be an amazing service.
So many smaller indie games I've played and completed that I would never have if I had to buy them separately.
The concerns about "but what about only the games I want to play ?" are unfounded.
The services has such a great element of discovery which is one of the key features IMO.
This only works if you only plan to play ER and HFW through an entire calendar year and nothing else, lol.
Even then, if you have just a little bit of online savvy you can get game pass for 3 years under $120~140. Not the $180 for single year that kingfey is talking about.
The Gold to GPU conversion is popular and i bet a lot of users on GAF use it.

To be fair to Gamepass, Microsoft are the highest rated publisher of the past year. All their games are on Gamepass (or will be in the case of those timed exclusives on other platforms). I see quite a few people saying that the games on Gamepass aren't any good, but there are highly rated games on there. There are some that don't score so highly, but if you took the top 100+ games on any platform, even critical darlings like the Switch, there just aren't that many games that score 90+ (Metacritic says there are 23 switch games scoring 90+), seems unfair to say that just because every game isn't Breath Of The Wild / Elden Ring then they're no good.Gamepass is only a value to people who just play anything thrown at them. Most people have responsibilities and time constraints.

So you think swapping from ultimate to gold to play online every other month is a smart choice? Not really fair to describe it as ''thrown at them'' as you can see the entire library before you pay for the month, therefore you can be selective. Also, if you have time constraints, just don't pay for the next month.
I managed to allocate those to ER and HFW, because gamepass had me covered for that month. I could have went over the budget, and spent more than I can chew.If you just bought ER and HFW and didn’t sub to gamepass, you’d be saving money. Not sure what point you are trying to make here.

No that was me that said that, and no not everyone plays just anything just to play games. I would say the old saying that people buy COD and Fifa or madden every year is a large part of the gamers out there. You play what you like. The smart choice is get whatever you will find value in. The point is he mischaracterised gamepass as something you get blindly then hope something you like is ''thrown at you'' which is not true.
Isn't that what the forums are now?
You didn't read reviews of the game? Didn't hear the chatter on sites like Neogaf that were talking about how great it is? How did some of you "discover" games in the past?!?The analysis is showing you the value. No one is saying you have to buy all the games. I'm playing GotG right now and I wouldn't have played it otherwise. It's a fantastic game. Thanks for Game Pass I discovered this great game I would never have paid for. There are countless examples of this. Microsoft does a great job with curating the GP selection. If you're playing one game a year then no, it's not the best value in gaming. But I've already played enough YTD that I've "recouped" my costs. It's just that good!
After that marvel game, people are very careful about any marvel game. That marvel game fucked up any future which that game had.You didn't read reviews of the game? Didn't hear the chatter on sites like Neogaf that were talking about how great it is? How did some of you "discover" games in the past?!?

It is extremely weird. Is the point to debate the value proposition of GP, or is the point to bait people into perceived console war arguments? I do not really see the middle ground for why someone posts an advertisement of this sort. They shouldn't be. I mean, it even says so in the OP that this article is brought to you by "Gamepass". Like a literal advertisement. It's weird.
Is GP a value service? Yes.
Will GP save you money? Only if you spend more than $10 a month on games.
They spend so much money making these games I'm surprised there aren't more failures in the gaming industry. If this were true in general, Guardians wouldn't be considered a sales failure by it's parent company.
Does gamepass include online multiplayer or is that extra?
