How often do you replay games?

Very very rarely. It either has to be very short (onimusha or ninja gaiden for example), or Diablo 2.

I replay Diablo 2 monthly sometimes weekly.

Games I enjoy going back to:
Diablo 2
Souls games (even if I don’t play to end)
Metal gear solid 2
Resident evil games

The time I spend playing games may be shrinking in general over the years (sometimes not even because I "don't have the time" but simply because I'm not in the mood/mindset for it), but overall when I DO play games, I'm just as likely to go back to something old I enjoyed than I am to spend time on something new/never played before.
The "I have little time to replay" sounds complete nonsense to me. If I enjoy my time with it, a game "replayed" is every bit as good as a new one.

P.S. hell, there are entire genres that are basically built on the idea of replaying them over and over and making different decisions every time (4X, tactical games, management games, open ended simulations, RPGs where you can build vastly different characters, etc).

I find myself replaying 16/32 bit stuff the most. Probably mostly nostalgia fueled, but they are still legit great games that hold up to this day. What's more, they don't require a huge time commitment per session, especially with Emulators and save states. I'll occasionally replay personal milestone games that I really enjoy, but only after a few years since the previous playthrough. Stuff like Bloodborne/Black Flag, etc. Most new-ish games today are too bloated to be excited about a replay.

Could probably count on 1 hand how many games I've replayed.
There's just too much entertainment out there I don't have time for it.

If there isn't a new game out that is catching my interest at the moment, I will gladly replay games I love. Mostly from the Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Splinter Cell, Souls-like and Legend of Zelda series.

I replay more than play new games. I have a few staples:

Final Fantasy 6
Chrono Trigger (literally played some today)
Fallout 3/4
Subnautica
Darks souls series
Demons souls
Skyrim
Evo

And a few more.

Tons. Out of the 24 games I’ve beaten this year, only 7 of them were games I’ve never beaten before. And the newest one on that list is Star of Providence, which basically came out back in 2018.

I love replaying games and do it pretty often , its one of the best parts about gaming in general. I expect most people will say "Too many games to try out to replay games I've already beaten" or "I don't have too much time to waste on replaying games" but replaying games you really enjoyed is awesome , especially if you find new stuff you weren't aware , games can surprise like that pretty often.

I don't replay very often. I'm replaying Yakuza 0 right now, though, and I'm loving it.

I'll be blunt.
A good game is like jacking off.
If you liked it the first time, you're likely coming back for more. Because it was awesome.

I rarely do... There was a time though, back when I had a very simple part time job and I didn't use YouTube or social media that much. Back then I did replay Zelda BotW + DLC. It felt great! I also played through MH Rise's main story three times on Switch, Steam and Xbox PC.

I kinda miss this feeling of taking the time to appreciate what you have.

Apparently, neurologically this type of feeling has to do with the DEFAULT BRAIN STATE and nearly all content on social media (+ads, +hype, etc) is designed to appeal to the brain its REWARD SYSTEM.

Funny fact these two can never be active simultaneously. Another reason to quit social media and browsing addictions. So you can better appreciate what you have, and maybe replay some games...

The irony of posting this on a forum that revolves around addictive hype, game discussion and rumours - I know.

If it's been long enough then it's almost like playing it again for the first time, so I do replay older games sometimes.

Very rarely, I’m usually one and done if I manage to complete a game.

The only games I can think of that I’ve replayed because I enjoy them are uncharted and last of us games.

Obviously if it’s a David cage game etc where there are many many paths/decisions which completely change the story, or hitman where there are lots of ways to complete missions I’ll play them multiple times. And some times if I really enjoy a game I might replay it to get the remaining trophies providing there are no multiplayer trophies or near impossible difficulty trophies.

Depends on the game.

I've played Witcher 3 every couple of years since I saw the light in 2018. After getting every achievement last spring I now feel like I'm done with it, at least for a long while.

I play the AC Ezio Collection every Christmas. Reminds me of when I was a teenager and would get the new game on Christmas Day. They're also infinitely replayable.

I boot up RDR2 and GTA 5 every couple of years but then eventually get bored because I've seen everything they have to offer. In fact I've just done this after the enhanced edition came out as I wanted to test drive the RT settings on my 9070 XT.

I still try to finish Super Mario 64 every 3 or 4 years, still haven't managed to reach the minimum required stars to the last Bowser level

Used to replay games quite often but not so much any more. Occasionally still replay my favourite RE entries. But aside from that only when I buy a Remaster of an older game.

Yeah, a lot especially the Fallout's and Skyrim, mods play a part in that but also the Dishonored and Bioshock's and some Assassin Creed's, i replay games far more than i play new games nowaday's.

Almost never. Unfortunately.

Only happens with the absolute top games that are highly gameplay-focused or those that trigger extreme nostalgia:

Elden Ring
Super Metroid
Metroid Dread
Minishoot Adventures
The Last Ninja 1,2
Turrican
Ori 1,2
Hollow Knight

I’ve never been able to do a full playthrough of something long and story-focused like Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Last of Us. I just don’t have the time. I’ve started them and played maybe a couple hours but that’s about it. Tried to go through TLOUp1 on PC maxed out recently, but I remembered it all so it felt like rewatching a 5 season TV Show, which I don’t do either, too slow and everything is already known so the story isn’t as engaging.

I’d love to play Scorn again as if it was for the first time. But I’ll never forget it. Can’t be experienced the same way twice without mind loss.
And Brothers A Tale of Two Sons, I’ll treasure that first playthrough like a diamond in my mind, hit me like nothing else.

Quite often. At least a few of the games I play each year are replays of games I already completed a few years back

Only bloodborne. Once a year, every year.

Since i have a 9-5 job i have to enjoy my hobbies in phases. There are months that i only read books or constintly watch movies or play games non stop. Whenever i fall off of gaming i download bloodborne, play it to completion and then im back baby

Rarely. My backlog is very extensive. If I'm replaying a game, it falls into one of three categories:

1. I need to do NG+ in order to unlock the Platinum trophy
2. The game was remastered for a new generation and I can play through it again and enjoy new content and get new trophies
3. It's cross-gen and something so simple and so enjoyable that I want to double complete it on both.

I play games because I enjoy them. If I replay them it's for nostalgia and trophies. The only exception to this rule is to share it with someone else.

depends on the game. sadly more and more games these days kill their replayability through bad game design. bad design I just about tolerate the first time through, but would lead me to instantly uninstall on repeat playthroughs.

RE4 I replayed countless times. a more recent one I replayed a lot was HiFi Rush (multiple times on Xbox and double dipped on PS5) which I probably played through like 7-8 times all in all...

Depends on the game.
If it’s an epic long play game. Usually the once. (Unless I gov up and play some thing else)

If it’s something like Doom/Quake a Shmup or fighting game, old school platformer or puzzle game then a lot of the time

Oh old arcade ports or homages to them.

You can't die before your death
When I was younger, I replayed games like RE4 and 5, and MGS3 more times than I can count. Now, I rarely do that. However, I might buy a remaster or repurchase an old favorite on a different console just to experience it again years later. For example, I bought Ni no Kuni on Switch, as the last time I played it was on PS3.

I replay Doom Eternal on nightmare every year because it's the best FPS ever.

I can never get bored.

Each combat scenario feels exhilarating.

The nice thing about Doom Eternal it's an FPS with zero bloat or forced walking. I can complete the game in 2-3 days.

As a kid I used to replay MGS1/MGS1/MGS3 yearly. It was a tradition. I used to take my Playstation to my grandparents house whenever we used to stay over and it was one of the best feelings ever.

I do not replay modern games because they're mostly boring open world walking simulators.

Pretty rarey. I used to replay games alot when I was in middle/high school since I had more time and fewer games due to having little money. It doesn't help that I currently play a lot of jrpgs that last anywhere from 50-100 hours.

When I was younger, I replayed so many games, but as I got older, that is so rare. I don't think it has to do with anything personally with each title, simply that as you get older, your time is more limited and I'd rather move on to experience more and have the funds to buy more games then ever before, but with less time lol

A game must really move me to re-play it now days. The last time I replayed a game, like several times after was The Last Of Us 2, I believe I beat it 3 times after completing it and then moved on to Ghost Of Tsushima and other titles that released in 2020.

Of the games I've replayed the most

Sonic 2 (a fucking classic)
Super Metroid
Star Fox 64
007 Goldeneye
Shenmue
FFIV
FFX
FFVI
MGS2
MGS3
(all the main Resident Evils, generally almost always replay them after the first run to collect more extras, different costumes, modes etc, but the RE I beat the most...RE CV and RE 2002 remake)
God Of War 1
Onimusha 1 and 2
Oblivion
Chrono Trigger

This generation, I have yet to replay a game twice outside of Resident Evil 8. Resident Evil 4 remake is the first time in the series, I just played it once...

I replayed RE4 Remake 4 times in total - but this was to get 100% achievements. It was fun tbh. Eg no healing run, pistol and knife run, professional run.

I prefer to play good short games instead of long times.

I would never replay Cyberpunk, Ghost of Tsushima, Spiderman etc because they take far too long to complete. I'm currently playing Final Fantasy 16. This game has some very epic moments but most of the gameplay is so fucking boring. Enemies are bullet sponges. The game seems to be never ending.

If FF16 was a 20 hour game I might consider it one of the best RPGs ever and worthy of a replay.

Only few games ever, i replayed ff7 twice, star ocean 2 twice too, diablo 1 back in summer 2017 just before i got myself new rig(and it still hold up, 20years later, no mods, vanilla and it still holds up), other than that i replayed dungeons 2 and 3 just before i started playing dungeons 4.
I did "replay" diablo2/d2r with mods for thousands of hours, same with path of excile, grim dawn and torchlight 2but dunno if those counts coz are hack&slash so i simply kept playing and playing w/o feeling i play same game there.

I don't replay the story, but I've been consistently abusing Franklin's bullet-time driving ability for the purposes of vehicular homicide in GTAV since 2013. I drive almost exclusively on the sidewalks, unless I see a bike.

It has to be an absolute banger that i enjoyed. Finished replaying MGS2, Death Stranding and RE4 recently, but i go through RE1/2/3/4 at least every year, otherwise, many games are not that memorable to me to go through them more than once.

Rarely. I can only think of HL2 and MGS games that I played multiple times. Generally most games if I do replay them, its one more time max. Especially big open world games or RPGs.

Out of the games released in the last ten years plus I can't remember a single one that I would want to replay. Out of old ones Mass Effect comes to mind. They don't make them like they used to.

I play MGS every year.

I also tend to replay game series with sequels (or remakes) on the way that I care about as a refresher.

I've been through Halo CE and Skyrim more times than I care to mention. Other stuff however, rarely if ever.

Out of the 12 games I've finished this year, six of them have been replays. Out of those six, I replayed three of them again right after(Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, DMC5 SE, Bayonetta 2). Aside from those games I also like to play shmups so, yeah. Probably not gonna find me replaying Horizon, P5R, BotW...a few games I put a bunch of hours into in past years and didn't finish, but I did replay Odin Sphere Leifthrasir on hard this year, so it really just depends on the wind.
