How remove dust under the Nintendo DS upper screen

I have a dust particle trapped in upper screen of my Nintendo DS unit, it bother me during gameplay (it's a black dot on white screenshots) anyone has a guide how to open Nintendo DS and clean the dust under the screen?
I live in Europe and I have a Pearl White JPN unit, so I can't use warranty to fix my problem.

Any suggestion is really appreciated, thanx in advance. :lol

I'm also wondering about this. There's some dust under the top left corner of my top screen. I only really notice it when I'm playing in the daylight at that angle, but I'd still like it out.

My friend installed a front/backlight (whatever it was) in his original GBA a while ago and said Nintendo sent him something to get his screen out. He said it was just like a tape thing that popped out the screen. He said it was pretty easy. It isn't glued or anything, it's more suctioned on or something.

EDIT:

Is there a way to get dust out of the shoulder buttons for PSP, too?

Scratches on the upper screen
If the plastic cover appears scratched, you can replace the screen yourself using the screen cover kit. This kit includes a new screen, a removal tool, and replacement instructions. The kits are available through:

* Nintendo's Online Store
* Nintendo's Customer Service Department. For assistance, please call 1-800-255-3700 between 6am and 7pm (PST), 7 days a week.

This product is not available at retail stores.

Please read the instructions carefully before performing the replacement.

If you do not want to replace the screen cover yourself, you may want to have your system repaired or replaced. Nintendo's warranty does not cover physical damage (such as a scratched screen on a handheld unit). If your Nintendo DS needs repair or replacement due to physical damage, and is within the warranty period, please call our Consumer Service department at 1-800-255-3700 to discuss available repair options..

I don't know if you could order just the removal tool though. I also had a dust particle under the top screen. I didn't know I could remove it after I traded it for a blue one :lol

I don't live in USA, so Nintendo Online store can't ship to my postal adress (I'm from Europe).
Do you mean this replacement?

The Screen Cover Replacement Kit allows you to change the existing screen cover if it is scratched. It comes with detailed instructions and a tool to help remove the original screen cover. This is a replacement for the upper screen only. (The lower screen is not replaceable by the user.)"

It will be also useful for me: detailed instructions to remove the original screen cover. :lol

Would using static electricity (like an old CRT TV) to pull the dust into a corner (so that it's out of the way) damage the DS if it wasn't on? I doubt it would but I'd make sure first.

I've taken apart a GameBoy Color. The GBA and the top screen of the DS seem to be installed the same way.

The plastic screen cover is "glued" to the rest of the hardware with a kind of double-sided sticky-tape. Although it's technically "glue", it's not hard, and doesn't break, so it's reusable (as long as you don't pull it apart and stick it back together again too many times).

The "tool" for taking your screen cover off is a suction cup. You attach it to your screen cover, and just pull really hard. The tape will let go before the suction cup will.

Once you do that, your LCD is exposed to anything and everything, and you already know how much "a speck of dust" can bug you, so be careful.

BTW, I think I've heard before that once you use the suction tool on a plastic screen cover, you won't be able to use that screen cover ever again. Something about it damaging the screen cover, or the suction holding on so tight that you'd have to break the screen cover to remove it. Something like that. I don't know. I've never used one.

BTW there is no way to open the upper shell and insufflate canned air under the screen to clean dust, without remove the screen and expose the unit at ton of dust?

(°__° ;)

I've never had dust under my handheld screens, what exactly does it look like if I do?

I've find a little particle of dust under my upper screen, you can see it when the unit is turned off. And in screenshots with white background you see a black dot, nothing too noticeable but a bit annoying.

If there are some suggestion to solve this defect I really appreciate ^^);
noone can link me a site where there's the procedure to disassemble the DS shell and fully open the unit?

Thank you. \(^.^)/

So you suggest me to don't open my unit so, and to leave the things as they are now? :lol
Pretty much. I live across the street from a firehouse, and after a week or so you don't even hear the sirens anymore. It'll be the same with your dust bunny.

I suggest the same. Really, unless you can get a nearly dust-free environment to do this in, you are more likely to make it worse than better. My GBA and PSP had dust under their screens, and I was pissed at first, but I've since shrugged it off.

Ok I will keep my NDS so! :) It should not be only a NDS problem this! I've read somewhere the PSPs are full of dust under the screen and playing with them their conditions become worser day after day! Isn't it?
