How to use your PS4 controller as a PC controller

for those of you that use the DS4 for PC gaming, how well does it perform in FPS games? could you play a game like battlefield 4 or titanfall and do well or is it just hopeless? i just built a new pc and plan on gaming from my couch. don't know how well that will work with a KB/M. any advise?

Make sure to use the custom drivers and you're set. I was playing the Titanfall beta with it and kicked ass.

Not sure about BF4 though, don't have it on PC.

I haven't played it recently, but when I did a few months ago everything worked fine except when I was in the menus, Square was confirm and X was back. Did this happen for you to? I couldn't figure out a fix.

they work pretty well in titanfall, don't expect to do well with other KBM players in BF4 MP though.

if you want to use KBM on a couch, there are stuff like this

what makes it work well in titanfall vs BF4? aim assist? does that help even things out?

aim assist and how the game plays in general. i only used the controller for 1 or 2 matches but for those matches i still did pretty well against others

I didnt really pay attention to the menus very well, but ingame the controls were botched. Was working fine with an earlier version too.

Nice, 1.2 worked perfectly except it had a random spaz for a couple of seconds every half an hour or so. Hopefully that's been fixed now.

If DS4 wasn't already the best PC controller, it is now.

Minor fixes for custom mappings, enabled Upperpad functionality.

Easier bluetooth disconnect makes this controller perfect

I just installed 1.2.2 and it works great, so glad I finally tried it, now I can ditch that damn 360 controller.

One question, does anyone else have issues using the D-pad in Steam Big Picture Mode? Pressing left or right seems to make BPM think I've pressed it twice, so on the screen with "Store", "Library", and "Community" selectable I can only select Store or Community, it skips over Library. Using the analog stick is fine, and in games the D-pad seems to work ok, but I just thought that was weird and wondering if it was just my setup or not.

Managed to get my PS4 controller to work using DS4Tool, but sadly with Metal Slug 3, the controllers aren't mapped correctly.
I want to use this setting:
Fire: Square
Jump: X
Bomb: O

I set them up but when i play the game, Square becomes grenade (O) and Pressing O also throws grenades.
X becomes Shoot+Jump! How do i fix this? I've got Xinput downloaded but not installed, would that fix it? If so, how I still don't get how to install it after reading the guide on that forum.

Finally installed the DS4 Xinput drivers on my PC today, I created a shortcut to scpserver.exe in my startup folder. Now the server starts at boottime, I also set the lightbar to a strange colour so I know the server is loaded and active (dark, dark green)

Couple of questions, I can't get rumble working in game (Lego marvell heroes) although rumble works in the server config app.

Can I change the button prompts to match DS4?

nice - my asus is coming shortly to try it out (bt adapter).

I just tried with a cord and it worked great although I felt a little lag - normal or do i have an issue?

You want to use the "Hide DS4" option or whatever it's called. Close any application that could be using the controller before clicking it.

Steam is likely detecting both the DS4 and the emulated 360 input at the same time. This will correct that.

Reading this topic you can use the touchpad as a mouse in games - great.

Does that also apply to Windows, though? Eg games like Thief that pop up a launcher for no reason at all?

Yes. It maps as a standard windows trackpad. However I find it difficult to click the pad and keep the cursor stationary making it very difficult to select small buttons and it's practically impossible to double click.

It would be nice if the DS4tool could eventually detect taps as that would solve the issue. We know the pad itself registers taps because they're used in the FFXIV ps4 beta.

On version 1.2.2, I can't get the rumble boost option to save - it resets to 100 when I close the options window. Anybody having the same issue?

EDIT:

While I'm here, is it just me, or is the Dualshock 4's rumble generally weaker than that of the 360 controller?

Had a dongle but couldn't get it paired, been using it tethered so I decided to get a 4.0 microdongle from ebay for a few quid and it paired instantly.

Is anyone having problems with DS4Tool when I disconnect the pad sometimes the scpserver.exe runs at 100% using up a full cpu core for no reason?

Steam seems to mess with the controller if you run it after you open steam. Causes buttons to be switched and if you try hiding the ds4, it doesnt even read it. Only fix seems to be to start the service before running steam.

Earlier versions won't even recognise the controller if you have steam open already.

So with 1.2.1 Dark Souls no longer recognizes my DS4. It seems to work in most other games. It could be a GFWL issue perhaps? I've noticed that when I try to hide the controller scpserver gives an error that says it couldn't find the controller and to close any other applications that may be using it. Though to my knowledge there are no programs using the controller.

I can use the ds4 on my pc wired flawlessly but I can't get Bluetooth to work - when it syncs it shows up as a device but none of the buttons work as dinput or xinput.

Using win 7 64 bit, ds4tool 1.2.2. Asus bt4.0 USB dongle

I've been using the 1.2.2 to play South Park. Just posting to give my props to this tool. It works FLAWLESSLY.

It's sad because I have an Xbox One controller, I prefer it over the DS4, and it simply doesn't work on Microsoft's own Windows platform...with Titanfall dropping in a week. Disgusting.

I been having some problems in South Park where the analogs start basically using themselves while I'm not even touching the controller. It fucks up my spinning jew attacks sometimes and can get pretty annoying.

Should there be rumble functionality in South Park? I have not had any rumble in games I've played with the DS4 so far and I'm not sure if it's because my settings are wrong or they just haven't had rumble in...

In attempting to set buttons for games such as Risk of Rain, it keeps setting everything to one input automatically. Other games sometimes do this that wait for button input. Anyone have any ideas?

Has anyone run into the issue of having your internet connection drop whenever you turn on ScpServer.exe while the PS4 controller is connected via bluetooth? I can use the program via USB fine, I can play with the DS4 over bluetooth fine as a generic controller, but when I try to run the program with a bluetooth connected controller I lose all internet connectivity. I'm using my Z87-PRO motherboard's built-in Bluetooth 4.0.
