How will you play?

For me, third person

- First person games tend to make me nauseous, I had to wait for Village's 3rd person DLC to play

- Resident Evil is traditionally a third person game

- Grace has arguably the best character model and hair ever in a game, I want to see it at all times

As it seems certain parts of the game will be designed around first-person view, while others with third-person in mind, I'll go with both. Perfectly OK with both viewpoints.

First person for me.

- It's more atmospheric and immersive.
- Third person always obscures part of the screen, or rather, what I see.
- Character models rarely look good in their animations. At least, very few character models in games have enough variety in their animations to make them consistently enjoyable to watch.

Third person on screen, first person in the VR headset with the inevitable praydog mod (or PSVR if they decide to release it on PS5, which is unlikely given that it's almost dead).

3rd. And if the falling animations are annoying, I will use a mod that makes that "feature" go away like it is in the 1st person mode. You know it's coming.

I wish it was mapped to a button or dpad for instant use and change on the fly instantly. I'll likely be going with how the game intends you to play the first time.

3rd person. I can't give a damn about a character in 1st person. Yes, first person is more immersive, but still, I prefer 3rd.

1st person ....and hopefully while wearing my PSVR2 Headset

Great question. Since all resident evil devolve from horror to straight action movie in the middle of act 2, gonna go with fp for the first half and 3rd person for the 2nd half.

It looks like this grace person will always be normal non John wick action star so her parts will be like the demo so I'll play that 1st person but I believe there will be another character like Leon aka John wick so for those parts it will be action so I'll play the action in 3rd person.

It looks like they worked very hard on both viewpoints. I like the extra animations and camera transitions they added to 3rd person to make it more immersive.

With that dynamic use of lighting and photorealistic environments, it would really be a waste not having it on psvr2, with those perfect blacks and hdr. Just imagining it makes me drool. For the kind of game and the art direction, it interests me more than Village and RE4R, for VR.

I'll wait for the gold edition. Plus what I've seen so far is a mixture of cringe and western developer walking sim. So that's a hard pass for me. Not in the mood for some whiny bitch either. Maybe I must get over it that Resident Evil 1 Remake is the greatest game ever made and realise that Capcom now caters to cringe

One playthrough in each perspective, which I'll choose first is still up in the air though it will arguably be scarier in 1st person and you lose the element of surprise in successive playthroughs so probably that.

third for me, as melee attack in first person suckass, tried to do knife only run in 1st person in RE8 and never has a feeling of distant between me and enemy, just spam attack button and praise it will hit

If capcom insists on the same abysmal field of view, I'll be forced to keep it third person yeah.

Also, the other reason is that making a game play well in third person involves making assets and maps bigger than in real life (the obvious one are the big doorways as to not impede the camera), something that FPS don't have to do. I bet this game will look weird in 1st person because of the wacky proportions of everything.

PS: looking at the footage more closely, it does indeed feels like playing as a midget. The doorways are massive and her head is barely above the handles (it happens all the time in TPS games, but seeing it in FPS really shows off how weird it is).

Grace's spastic running animation would break the tension, I'd be laughing instead of crying playing this in third person. So my first playthrough will have to be in first person.

i cannot play in FPS as i got motion sickeness and i am glad that RE Village has 3rd person as dlc in the gold edition

thinking back , i still bought RE7 but it took me ages to complete the main story and Chris Redfield DLC

Resident Evil is third person for me. This series was never about turning around the camera constantly. I dislike this a ton.

The original games were fixed cameras. RE4 was over the shoulder and you could see very well with minimal movement.

Give me a good point of view and let me take my decisions about where I go and how I progress in the various locations. Struggling with a reduced field of view and enduring LCD blur is the last thing I want to do.

I am also quite surprised that they offer both. In my opinion, you don't design your game the same way AT ALL if you want to offer a third person or a first person view.
