Good question. It depends on how it's done at the end. I like RE in third person more, but, mmm, the recent footage looks like it's being developed with first person in mind (it doesn't look bad in third though).

People saying third person are so.. weak. I am kinda disgusted by them.

The game is designed with first person in mind.

Third Person.

Most of the reason is motion sickness, but there is also this element of me that thinks first person player are idiots like FIFA Players and COD players. It is just an unreasonable association on my end I understand, but it is still present when I hear, read, see or play games and think about people sitting very close to the monitor with a super low FoV and controller in their hand hyperactively smashing their buttons and never aim up or down only sideways.

We're out here showcasing a complete inability to see another's point of view. American politics in a nutshell.

Before watching the gameplay demo, i thought to myself "I'll most likely continue the tradition of RE 7 & 8 since it seems to be more in line with those games".

But, having watched the full demo... i don't see how it should be anything other than third-person. Maybe i need to see the it in first-person.

I'll never understand people calling first person "floating camera feeling" when in third person what exactly is the camera doing behind your character?

1st person ....and hopefully while wearing my PSVR2 Headset

Has this been confirmed yet?????? Resident Evil in VR is the only way to play these games

Before I had played re7 I didn't like that the series went to 1st person. RE had been 3rd and it was weird seeing it from that view point.

But after playing both 7&8 I can't imagine the baby scene would hit the same in 3rd person. Days gone, horizon, gow, ghost of, tlou 1&2, and rachet are all awesome Sony 1st party games but it's nice to see Capcom zig when Sony zagged on view point.

Glad the new hollow knight and metroid 4 are from a different perspective from big studios. But I was playing Stephen Jackson's Sorcery! series last night😁

I'll only play first person if they finally add an FOV slider. RE8 made me nauseous at times due to the low FOV.

also, for some reason, RE8 plays way better in 3rd person than in 1st person. somehow the stick aiming in 3rd person is actually competently done, while it's absolutely awful in 1st person.
I agree, also I actually preferred VR in RE7.
RE8 is too fiddly for my liking.
Probably more immersive sure with you holding stuff but RE7 was literally a FPS game in VR and it worked flawless
Now it got all that fiddly VR hand shit

Just like RE8 and RE4:Re, I will skip until extreme discount OR VR is added. Whichever comes first.

So first person.

That isn't the point. It's the movement you focus on. In first person, the camera jerks, pans and just generally looks extremely wrong (nothing like actually looking through eyes). In third person, you focus more on the characters movements and what happens to them. You see the character get scared, you see them get hurt when an enemy grapples them (vs a weird red screen flash). It's kind of like watching a movie, you can actually become attached to the character. The issue with first person is that it doesn't actually feel like first person, and the movement is extremely artificial with the rhythmic screen bobbing.

These issues are completely fixed in VR, which is IMO the most immersive way to experience a horror game. That is the only time first person is better. Take VR out though, and I'm waaaaay more immersed in third.

First person. I prefer third person when it's designed around it like Resident 4. However , the very fact that you can play it first person, your movement will limited. Would be sick otherwise.

The colorful cast of main characters ARE Resident Evil to me. I played RE7 and thought it was ok, but the faceless mook known as Ethan is the opposite of what I want from RE games. Due to that, I ended up skipping 8 and would skip this as well if it didn't have a third person option.
