If you do a good job as a parent, then you should have instilled in your children a strong sense of self-worth and ambition, but it is never a certainty as to where the arrow lands. Why punish them with ex-communication? To what end? You can express disapproval, and state your reasons why and who knows maybe that might give them pause to reflect on their choices, but you cannot change them, the most you can do is be there for them if and when they need you.
