How would you react to learning that your family member does porn?

Can you even read?
I was arguing against it, not for it.
Maybe before trying to be smart, go back to school and brush up some english again.

Your argument is shit though. Likening Porn actors to Athletes is grade A Garbo. I know it, you know it and anyone reading that miserable excuse of position knows it. It's a false equivalence. No ones getting trained to be a doctor or an architect at 6. So implying that if you're ok with someone being a sex worker that somehow magically means you'd condone paedophilia is laughable. It's merely a not so subtle attack on anyone who doesn't share your opinion.

I don't think anyone is 'Great, good move' about people becoming sex workers. It's pretty much known that the porn industry is full of broken people. But if it was someone you knew and it was their choice do you think vilifying them is going to make them reconsider?

Also, would your reaction depend on whether the family member were male or female? How about whether or not they were your mother, father, sister, brother, daughter or son?
If it was my mother, father, sisters, brother, daughter, or son? Don't care.

If it was you, OP? High five! 🙌

Depends how close of a relative we are talking about?

Sister/mother/daughrer is a big no no. I would feel awkward and embarassed. Cousins? Aunts? Nieces? Sure. I would even watch it. Could be interesting.

I know it isn't the same, but a year ago we found out one of my cousins was a male stripper/dancer. I was fully supportive of him as he was happy performing and enjoying himself. It doesn't affect me one iota so good luck to him I say. Some family members were a little upset (we come from a traditional catholic/Italian backround) but they got over themselves pretty quickly.

You would watch family members who aren't your immediate family engage in porn? Would you get off to it?

Well, that's kind of the arbitrary benchmark. Athletes, artists, actors and so many other professions can be trained from very young. So to people who says there isn't anything morally wrong with sex work, that's the question, "are you able to train them young?"
Which is why sex work will never be a "morally right" work or normalized.

Its a little different with males. I wouldnt mind that much if, say, my son would have such a job but if it was my daughter i would want to die. I dont believe in equality of sexes when it comes to sex.

Well, at least your honest about the possibility of being sexually aroused by your own family...
I don't consider many of my relatives as family. Depends on how close they are, how many memories we share, if we are even aware of each ones existence, etc. Also, you can't control who sexually arouses you. And no, i wouldn't mix our blood since you are wondering.

You wouldn't mix your blood. So, you'd pull out in time?

I can see that. I might be similar as well.

Calling false equivalency doesn't make your arguments any more right,go back to school and learn what that means again. That standard can be applied to almost any other career except sex work. Except I just exposed a loophole that nobody especially someone like you would like to admit.

Nobody is being trained to be doctor & architect at 6? Verified by who? Your words? lol what nonsense. No wonder this is how you framed your nonsensical standards, by your words alone.

I did mentioned that we do not vilify the sex worker, but nobody should be comfortable with it being called "normal".

"It's pretty much known the porn industry is full of broken people" -- There goes your admission, and somehow we want to normalize broken people being even more exploited in a broken circle by saying "it's normal"..? Is that the place where broken people should go and get a brighter future?

"I don't think anyone is 'Great, good move'" -- again another admission. Also kinda stupid to probably say "hey, no problem, it's normal!", maybe for someone like you, you might even add "you got my support?" "Continue going that path working on a broken industry that will brighten your future!"
Laughable, rather than putting real effort to help that family member to find better alternatives at getting a better future/help, all you guys offer are empty calls for "normalizing".
Why? Because it makes you feel woke for being open minded and being a pretentious by calling out people who judge that to be not normal.

"But if it was someone you knew and it was their choice do you think vilifying them is going to make them reconsider?" -- Again, I've mentioned not to ostracize or vilify them.
And it's "their choice"??? Go out with that garbage, nobody does porn purely by their choice because it's empowering or whatever bullshit nonsense you can tell yourself. Your children can tell you many things what they want to grew up as, but ain't nobody will ever come and say they want to get fucked for cash, and if some kid tell you like that, you knew it's NOT normal, it's insane.

So go on and tell me it's garbo because I've just exposed a simple loophole for anyone calling to "normalize" sex work. A standard that an be applied to all "normal" careers except porn. But hey, as long as it makes you feel pretentiously woke, I guess you do you.

Look at you angry little internet man. Getting all righteous and shouty just because you made a ridiculous statement and got called out on your BS. 'Go back to school' Really? That's your best refutation when the sheer absurdity of your logic is brought into question. Fail state.

Reality. If you're making a ridiculous argument the onus is on your prove it. Keep projecting 'Nonsensical;' though, that's always a winning approach.

Not entirely sure who you're attempting to have an argument with here, save yourself? I never said sex work was normal, nor have I been trying to normalise it. You're making hysterical assumptions and arguing with yourself. I haven't advocated for a career in porn once in this thread. I've merely rejected the idea of personally disowning a family member if they went down that route. As regards 'Supporting' Like the OP you seem to suffer from some binary thinking wherein, if you're not doing this (disowning), then you must be doing that (supporting). Whereas in reality, It's entirely possible to disapprove of something, but not feel the need to burn your bridges in the process. With regards to the matter of 'choice', we're dealing with a hypothetical scenario here. If I felt someone was being press-ganged into these things. I'd naturally be opposed and would likely intervene, but we are working on the basis that they have free will here and it is their decision, and in the situation, the most I can do is say 'I don't think you should do it because, x, y, z reasons....' and hope they re-evaluate, but I'm not going to exile them if they carry on regardless.

That's almost a reason to never have kids. I couldn't deal with some annoying punk to bang my daughter. If it's porn, well then you know you fucked up as a parent.
Attitude while I lived in Québec was quite different. A corworker of mine even showed the centerfold of his daughter. He was so damn pride of her and how hot she was.

1. How much and how long? If theyre making a living and being safe then sure, but many clothed bartenders make similar wages.
2. What kind? I would try not to judge but id probably have some thoughts for the extreme end.

I mostly wouldnt care if theyre happy but id definitely try to find them a career path with better longevity and less downsides. Camming maybe?

I've made the decision to progressively move away from porn, it gets in the way of my life. It's not something I'd support and I would be disappointed if a family member was involved in it. My support would be to do what I can, with in reason, to steer them away from it. They are free to reject my support and go their own path. I definitely would not be proud of them or agree with them. I'd still love them.

That seems like an unwise view to take. There are limits a parent can do. Any child is an individual who will eventually have to make their own choices. We made our stupid decisions, they will make theirs.

I would advise them against it, especially if they are female. No one wants to admit it, but no one will ever take a woman seriously if you can just google her name and see pictures of her with dick in her mouth. If you are male you are setting a bad example for your children if you ever have any.

Those videos of her sucking dick will follow her for the rest of her life. If she ever gets a managerial position she will have every male trainee thinking she is an easy lay and she will be disrespected. That's just trainees, clients will also get the wrong idea, that's assuming her porn history won't prevent her from getting the job in the first place.

The most vulnerable physically or emotionally you will ever be is in a sexual embrace, that this is trivialized in our society is a huge problem.
