HP Stream 7 £50 @ Microsoft Store

with stuff like twitch if you watch a stream in VLC instead of the browser using flash the performance is double and uses less battery, it's watchable flash video sure but it sucks still. Never tried netflix on my linx 10 but maybe their player is better.

A lot of these windows devices right now all use the same chipsets so it's just a matter of size and price, i went with a 10" model in prep for windows 10 personally.

Or, even better, just use some native Windows 8 apps.

While the tablet is "full windows 8", things outside of metro UI run pretty piss poor. You really should use as many Metro apps as possible replacements if you want the best experience. The apps available for twitch (while unofficial), play 60fps streams perfectly. I regularly use it to stream Trump playing Hearthstone for example.

I think too many people are seeing this tablet as a miniature PC and they're going to be disappointed... You need to view it first and foremost as a tablet PC that in a pinch can run full windows programs.

As for the battery in standby issues... http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=152816993&postcount=334 is the solution. Battery can last 2 days in standby doing this versus a few hours.

My shipping email is taking FOREVER to get to me :(
Those who did get it, when did you order the tablet? I ordered mine on Tuesday... (I know, i might be a bit impatient)

For those waiting for a shipping email, I noticed mine was in my junk folder.

I am also slightly annoyed my order has not updated in the slightest. Was hoping to get it before I go away tomorrow.

Anyone with it, do you know how Hotline Miami runs?

I just got a delivery from DPD, so if it comes with UPS there is still hope for today!

Mine still says order processing. May go see what the score is.

Also hotline Miami, would like to know as well

Edit - Just seen they have taken the money from my Paypal Account today, strange it took so long, but that's good at least I know I am getting it now.

Hurry up DPD or whoever is delivering!!!

I had no idea there was an unofficial twitch player in the windows 8 store, I will check it out.

I'm starting to feel really tempted at how much they keep on discounting the HP Stream by. I already have a Surface, but I kind of want to pick one up as a gift for my mother.

You need a wired connection to steam Xbox games though

..What? They have so far been marketing the streaming as something you could do on your Surface, and the Surface doesn't have an ethernet port

Phoned the support telephone number and the very awesome guy put the order through for me. That's the first time I've ever experienced a American call centre, though!

I had a promo email from Quidco giving me £15 cashback if I purchased through them before 31st March.
I think I might be getting this for £35 if so!

Ordered a 64GB Class 10 Samsung Evo microSD to go with it, suspect that will arrive before the tablet from the way people are talking.

Just thought on, will I be able to do steam in home streaming to this thing? Wouldn't mind playing a few casual games while downstairs.

How do you connect a controller to one of these?

Via USB, or with dswindows for a Dualshock 3/4. If you use a Dualshock 4 you can use the touchpad as a mouse so that is handy

One of these (GCM 10) designed for the xperia Z3 remote play can work well too - I have one used with a linx 7 tablet

Thanks.I've got a dualshock 3 and xbox controllers so it should be easy enough.

Just ordered one of those this morning.

Getting mine this week.

Very quick question, what Keyboard/mice are you using on it? Looked up Bluetooth keyboards and they are all very expensive. Must be a cheap option or alternative somewhere?

Yes, I've played FFXIII with it, works quite nice actually.

It does indeed, just gave it a quick go!

Question, I downloaded the wireless LAN drivers from the HP website, had a couple of disconnections since though, should I install all the recommended updates in the update page on windows?

And any recommended apps for a windows based tablet?

So just got mine there. Other than the thing that helps save the battery life aanything else anyone would recommend to put on it?

Just got mine! Half Life 2 at 600p and mostly high settings, havn't seen it dip below 40 with an average of about 60fps. Really impressive little device! Keeping games in 4:3 seems to be ideal for performance.

Edit: Here's Portal too
