Then what kind of more advanced Terminator would Skynet need to send back to kill him considering how powerful the T-X is? What would its specs and abilities be? Would it be another female model, or a Male one? It would have to be stronger or else there would be no fear or tension throughout the film. Obviously, the T-X would win, but would it go the same route as the others and have to have John Destroy it because it can't self-terminate, or would they do a different way?

They'd sent back a T-X3000, a hybrid of the T-X (T3) and T-3000 (Genisys), which takes on the form of Sarah Connor to better deceive John. It's also programmed to believe it really is Sarah Connor (taking some inspiration from Marcus' situation in Salvation), and will only remember its mission when it has a clear strike on John Connor.

In the interrogation room in T1 Kyle says they'd (The Resistance) won. The Resistance had taken the complex with the time travel machine and the Terminator had already gone through.
Perhaps if Skynet had more time they would've sent more.

Convenient timing is a convenient explanation for the first film. And if that was the only Terminator movie, it could be satisfactory.

But they keep going back to this idea of sending just one Terminator at a time over like 5 movies now?

Each time someone is sent back it changes the future thus (unfortunately) enabling further movies. Even the first movie is already on an altered timeline from whatever originally happened.

Time travel in stories is ridiculously complicated and thinking about it too much just winds up with plot holes, inconsistencies, things that don't make sense, etc.

The only reason I could see Skynet not sending back hundreds/thousands, aside from the apparent power it takes to send them, would be having humans become aware of them.
If it was too known humans might, as a collective try to stop it ever happening.

Sure the Skynet from T2 was only created because of the T1 parts left behind, but that's still on the downlow and not a huge amount of people know.

But at the end of the day it's a fun action movie series with time travel. Don't look too deep into the puddle.

It literally doesn't matter because when time travel is involved you can make things up as you go.

For every idea you conjure up there's a counter.

The minute you start thinking, like actually thinking about time travel and the implications and possibilities, it's basically game over.

The real answer is there was a "T-5000" seen in Genysis for about 30 seconds played by that Dr. Who actor. Its combat abilities are completely unknown but presumably with a moniker like T-5000 it must be some last-resort, super advanced prototype. Skynet itself transferred its consciousness into it as a means of escape when it was defeated by John Connor's team.

About the T-X. I don't know if any Terminator series is stronger than a T-X because of its built-in plasma cannon. It was able to one-shot a T-1000 with it in the comics, and it could probably finish off a T-3000 with one or a few shots. The T-850 seen in Terminator 3 was basically a pro model of the T-800 and one of its upgrades was an endoskeleton that was hardened to withstand plasma attacks, that's the only reason it was able to continue on after being hit with it.

Don't they explain it as actually as they (Skynet) knowing they are losing spend multiple terminators at the same time just at different points in time. I think Arnold explains this in T3. Or in one of the at least.

In the original he says the rebels captured the time machine after the terminator was sent back, they sent Reese and then blew up the time machine.

The first terminator skynet sent through created skynet, and the resistance fighter they sent after it created the reason it had to send out terminators to the past in the first place. It's never going to really make sense.

They don't even know which Sarah Connor is the one they are after. They don't really have the granular information to know what to do in the past.

The T-850 is really interesting, it's the same basic design and architecture of the T-800, but its strength, speed, durability, and CPU capabilities appear to have been cranked up considerably. It put up a really good fight against the T-X.

I think even a T-1000 would probably struggle mightily against a T-850 since they have radically different designs with pros and cons for each. If both met unarmed in an open field, is there anything a T-1000 could do to destroy a T-850? Perhaps not. A T-1000 arm blade would probably crumple against the hyperalloy T-850 endoskeleton like an aluminum knife vs. steel. I guess a T-1000 could eventually win by reaching for critical components in the T-850's torso, but it could just be knocked away or evaded with each attempt.
