She looks rather awesome, but I wonder if she'll pay for her massive AoE powers against hordes, not that everyone else doesn't have huge AoEs, mind you, by being weaker against stronger foes.

Well, I suppose the game needs some army-clearing specialist character, might as well be Midna. Is that a common archetype in the Warriors games? A character that clears out armies easier than any other, but is at a disadvantage in duels?

Crowd control movesets are very important in a Warriors game especially when judging the character's efficiency of controlling the crowd while fighting enemy generals (very important in higher difficulty). For example, when talking about crowd control melee attacks, Lu Bu in the Dynasty Warriors series is known for his brutal moveset that can destroy enemy crowds and generals. Each swing of his halberd can hit multiple enemies at once and at the same time he has devastating EX and Musou attacks that can destroy enemy generals. Crowd control projectiles or AOE attacks are also great movesets too especially if that character has equipped powerful abilities to it.

From what I see so far, Midna has great crowd control especially the way she can suck in her enemies and dispose them as an AOE attack. I'm not sure if the enemies on the rear can get sucked in. Another potential problem are the larger enemy generals. Can they get sucked in just as easily? It would be great if she can do it.

Too soon to call this. When Nintendo teased Twilight Princess in that infamous moment, there was no sign of Midna anywhere. Then again, the very first tease of Skyward Sword was that artwork of Link and Fi before we even knew her name or what her in-game role was.

I do expect to see Link with an "assistant", though. Adventuring is twice as memorable with a buddy/potential fanshipping bait.
