I (also also) joined the mechanical keyboard mayonnaise race

I was kind of debating my thread in my head because there was already 2 of them but eh this is the last one for now.

My pastel colored mechanical keyboard came in. It's made by royal kludge, 75% (60 is too small for my liking and I don't use numpad enough for 100% or 98%) and it's fucking AMAZING

Typing on this thing reminds me of the sound when you're mining in Minecraft. It's very smooth sounding. Not to mention that it's easier to type on than my old membrane keyboard. It feels good and honestly it makes using my computer more fun

I also had a little adventure with my ram, turns out when I installed it a couple days ago it was still running at my old ram speed (2133mhz). Had to go through the bios, changed what seemed to be the memory frequency. Then my PC just stopped booting on me for a minute, was so worried lol

Eventually learned you had to change the DOCP profile in order to actually use the ram's speed instead of just adjusting the memory frequency. Did it and now everything works well.

The silly PC upgrade saga is over.... for now.

I used to be into keyboard for a short period of time. I ended on a Nuphy low profile with Moss switches. . I don’t plan on buying another keyboard unless this breaks.

I used to love my mechanical keyboard at work. Got one at home and the noise suddenly sounded too much like work. So, I replaced it with a Scissors version.
Scissors are better than mechanical.

It’s basically at the stage now where they are just “keyboards” like they’ve always been. “Mechanical keyboards” have been reduced down to be as interesting as sticking stickers on your laptop cover

dunno what you're talking about. the difference between this and my previous membrane is pretty palpable- i don't think I can go back to using that dusty old thing again even with more keys

Mechanical KBs are significantly better in pretty much every way to rubber membrane. Fucking gross.

I've tried two, so far. Not for gaming. Just for work. Never warmed up to it, though. Both had really low tension on the keys and I get extra inputs all the time. I like the feel but have a much better time on normal bladder keys.

Well, if we're posting.

Wooting 60HE // Mv Terminal Key caps // 80G Linear Springs for my rough typing and the dual controller input for WASD ) // Tofu 60 Redux // Lubed Springs and Switches

Best keyboard I've ever used, I'm trying to convince myself to get the 80 HE and sell this one because after 2 years I'm missing my arrows and functions since it's becoming a multi use keyboard vs strictly gaming (I bring it to work with me)

Happy for you, OP!

Had a Wooting two HE for a while but sold it, picked up a Keychron Q5 and haven't looked back.

It's chunky and I appreciate it not moving around too much.

I got a Keychron V6 Max recently and it’s been amazing to type on. I also have a few Razer keyboards (mechanicals and one optical) around, but Keychron is so good for typing.

I like Keychron, but I prefer double shot PBT and, for some reason, I can't seem to find a Keychron with double shot PBT where the backlight actually shines through the letters. They all seem to just shine behind the keycap.

Ahh, yeah, not sure about that. All I care about is how it feels to type at this point, lol, and it works very well for that. And they do have decent RGB but yeah, backlight through the keys would be nice.

I am not into the whole mech. keyboard community but aren’t there keyboards that are fully customizable now days?

Yeah, you can build your own keyboard from scratch. Not going down that road though.

Don't know, haven't opened the keyboard up yet lol

maybe later for cleaning purposes or if i ever get the urge to mod it.

Should say in the product description if it is double shot PBT. No biggie. I was just curious. Hope you like it.

Ah...saw your edit. Cool.....those are better.

Welcome to the club , I've a couple myself

Logitech G913 Lightspeed (clicky , probably red switch)
Keychron K3
Generic China brand Hermes

And all I got to say is by far Logitech has the best wireless solution and battery life . It switches between 2.4G and Bluetooth flawlessly , never had any connection issues , and last for weeks of a single charge . The Keychron is crap in this . Tell me if there's something better .
My only regret is the logitech is not keycap swappable

I've ordered and returned 2 mechanicals over the years. Just couldn't get on with them. Maybe it was because they were Cherry Red keys and I'd be better with browns for some feel.

For me I favour silence above all, so mechanicals and their famed thocking just aren't for me without serious noise reduction efforts. Like Magic Carpet Magic Carpet I think I'm better off with scissor.

Was long into mechanical boards before it exploded commercially (good times)....but still have all my boards. I prefer mx brown switches. reds are releasing to fast for my taste and clicky switches are just annoying af. Also dont like the small hipster boards...i need a numpad way too many times...so its fullsize only for me nowadays.

I have the Lofree Flow84 with tactile Kailh switches.

It's a low-profile board that sounds and feels amazing to type on. It's also wireless. I game on it a bit as well, no problems there. I went low-profile because I just can't type on those "normal" Cherry or OSA profile keys. I'm just too used to typing on a laptop, I guess.

Would you recommend changing to a mechanical keyboard? If so, why? I wasn't asking if I would get better, but rather improve my habits but thanks for the feedback!

it's mostly for the feel and sound of the experience- I don't think jumping from membrane to mechanical will necessarily make you a better typer or gamer the same way buying a gaming mouse doesn't suddenly make you a pro CSGO gamer. It's just for the fun of owning one and enjoying the enhanced experience over a membrane (IMO)
