I *also* joined the 144hz mastur(bation) race

I think the idea is that you can approximate a CRT with this technique and a good OLED with 240hz refresh. The more the better of course!
speaking of, I also got the opportunity to try black frame insertion on Retroarch with this tech.

the difference it makes to motion clarity of SNES games is palpable!

Depends on the game. I can't run Silent Hill 2 Remake at 240fps. Obviously i need to lock the frame rate to something. Although with VRR you don't need a stable/fixed frame rate, i still don't want to run the card at 100% usage all the time (due to noise and temps).

But something like Quake 1/2 remaster, sure, those run at 240fps easily.
If you have to worry about noise and temps, you have some sound system and VGA problem(s).

Sequel thread. My 180hz monitor came in the mail today. 3x 60fps and hooly shit. I never want to go back. Its so beautiful playing games like this.

who needs 4k with motion fluidity like this?
I ran Ocarina of time interpolated with this framerate and it's smooth like butter.

Not an OLED unfortunately, maybe another time when i've got more cash.

That's all. low effort thread.

Yeah I been going 1080 144hz for a while and can't be motivated to replace anything. Everything is just good enough. At 24" the IQ is good enough to pass. Just easier having all the extra headroom for actual game

Lots of hertz being thrown around just make sure your GPU/CPU can match them otherwise it’s pointless
i'll probably upgrade my cpu and gpu later yea

the recent upgrades are just moreso for just smoothness and stability with my system.
When I get a 5070 or something similar is when this 144hz monitor will really be put to the test 😛

Started playing BG3 on my PC with a 180hz and it's amazing.

My PS5 is starting to feel ignored lately.

I mean, even if you can't play a brand new game at 180. Play a 5-10 year old one at 120 and you're still enjoying better performance.

My monitor may not be 4k but it IS 1ms. It's a tool for headshots not just an "entertain me with good visuals" thing.

Not at all. My room is whisper silent and i try to keep it that way.

Some games will push my card at 100% even if i lock the frame rate at 40fps (which is my minimum standard) otherwise i try to keep the card as cool and as silent as possible.

Do you play games on mute??

Energy savings, longevity and dB. I have a 165hz display, but never go over 120. To be honest I'm more than content with 90-100fps in any game including online shooters. I also use a controller.
Yeah I use a controller too, guess we're sinners. Well, I see nothing wrong with your reasoning, pretty responsible actually.

I usually play late at night and i'm not the only one home. I also sit very close to the PC so if there any noise from it i can clearly hear it.

But no, not on mute.

I also use a controller because it's comfy, you can sit however you want. I get my fair dose of the K/B stance when i'm working, i don't need to tire myself when i'm gaming too.
