The backlogs of people grow and grow, it's a story here on GAF, and I will cleanse you of the backlog.

Post after post I see gamers torturing themselves with these "backlogs", my solution from this thread onwards is to eliminate ALL backlogs.

Happy Friday and weekend GAF.

Much like how Jesus needed to die for about 3 days to absolve mankind of their sins (terms and conditions apply) I think that in order for our backlogs to be forgiven you need to... ya know, get banned for about 3 days.

Denied! I want to play those games, that's why I bought them. I literally just bought 7 games this week (ish), but I am only 30 hours into Trails through Daybreak II so it will be awhile before I touch them, and of the 7 only 3 are on my "soon" list. (Lunar 1-2 and Clair Obscure are next). Then it is real backlog stuff, SAO Alicization Lycoris probably, since I am 3 games behind in that series.

But I'm finally gaining ground. Three games complete in the past couple weeks.
Avowed, South of Midnight and Indy. Next up is Cyberpunk.

No! My backlog don't cause me any suffer, on the contrary, it saves me when the new games fall short on quality. Unfortunately, I've been playing more PS3 nowadays than my PS4. I don't even have a PS5 yet.

Nah, I still have like 300+ games I want to play and already bought. Enough to last me more than a lifetime. Still im day 1 on Doom, Death Stranding 2 and GTA VI this year.

Legitimate question, can I get a refund on steam games I haven't played that have been sitting in my library for like 10 years?

There's some real average crap I'm not real sure why I bought

Who is the resident neogaf priest ?

I have a confession... I subscribed to gamepass and believed I would play through at least 1 game from there in 3 months, but temptation of older games lead me to the sin of not using the best value in gaming. My backlog is a heavy burden yet I still do heresy like that. Lord Gaben have I paid enough into your platform to be remedied into gaming heaven ?

Never understood people with big back catalogs.... I see a game I want.. I buy, finish and then buy another ... whats the point in buying 4 games and having time for playing just 1 ? "Oh discount!" Well a game discounted now for sure will soon be again and in this time you finish the game you just bought?? ... oh but pre orders!!! Welp .. just dont ? Why? A little cosmetic you can pick up later anyway ? ...

But if you count as backlogs games you didnt even bought but want to play.. if so I can understand.

I've been waiting for this time for years... decades...
It even came to this that I played order 1886 last year... imagine that.

Thank you. Finally a good decision

Not even the gaze of the God Emperor himself could pierce the shadow cast by my monumental backlog, pure heretical darkness and despair in the form of theoretical bangers.

...And I wouldn't want it any other way.

I gotta at least play/finish those that i already insteald, thats 90% space taken from my 4tb hdd(for older/less demanding games) and 3x 2tb+ 500gigs in ssd space.
Im good till 2028 here- hell i still gotta finish(barely licked in some cases) 90%+ metacritic games from previous gen, not to mention so many from current gen :P

If you don't understand impulse buying, you are blessed.
I understand impulse buying something that is of limited availability... or that you have to buy because you may not be at that place at that time anymore .. but for games in the digital/ easy delivery era, welp is a concept hard to grasp.

But in the end you are right. Im blessed... it wasn't always like this though lol. Children brought me some sense 😅

Tomorrow the Backlog Bunny will come and drop a 100 hour JRPG into your Steam account.

This is why I'm done buying new consoles. I still have thousands of hours of games to play. Dad life has finally caught up with me.

That's physical backlog! A lot of games are no longer in print but still in the library! 🧐

I've only got 1 game left on my backlog - Death Stranding.

My new policy is not to buy any new games unless I've cleared my backlog.

In 2025 I envisage that I will purchase only 4 games:
- Doom Dark Ages
- Metal Eden
- Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater
- Death Stranding 2
