I would like to play something that is ps4 or ps5 that is about the military fighting against an alien invasion in a fps game. What are my options? I wish they would bring the Resistance trilogy back.

Sadly no, military shooters against aliens outside of Halo and Resistance is pretty much dead/rare af. We barely get sci-fi fpshooters. Crysis trilogy might be the last one? You can always replay HL1/2(black Mesa is awesome).

If you really dont care about the genre and you're just interested in the theme, Mass Effect trilogy is a military third-person shooter against aliens. XCOM games are also the same, but they're TBS.

Half-Life 1 and Half-Life 2. You can play the remake of Half-Life 1 if its too old for you called Black Mesa which is fantastic.

Closest i know that'd be a mix of tactical and boomer shooter would be Selaco. It isn't on the ps4/5 though.




Apart from that, i suppose other cool shooters you can play there would be Ion Fury and WRATH.

Since Doom was already mentioned (and is probably the best FPS since the PS360 era), I'll throw in Wolfenstein: The New Order as a runner up that should scratch a similar itch as Resistance.

Other contenders would be the Metro series and Titanfall 2.

There was also that third person shooter XCOM game "The Bureau: XCOM Declassified", I didn't check it out at the time but I don't remember people being too into it but maybe in comparison to games now it could be worth a look

It is absolutely criminal that we keep getting remasters and remakes of PS4 games but nothing from the PS3 era. So many great games left to rot. Would love to have Resistance on the PS5.

Nope, there isn't, is such a weird franchise, the mood between games changes a lot and the restrictions in R2 to the use just 2 weapons, instead of the weapon weel from RFoM, just because it was "cool" in other games back in those days is such weird choice considering how cool most of the weapons/abilities were

R3 is wild tho, the amount of stuff the game throws at you when you think everything is going smooth, some crazy s#it happens out of nowhere, really great game

It really sucks that resistance 3 I didn't play but loved the first two. There was too much out and I skipped it, thinking it would be on ps4... Nope. Sony hates war games or games that wouldn't appeal to women so we don't get squat anymore.
