I feel like Man’s timeless obsession with wacking off has driven much of technology in the last 40 years

- Home video. Many say the porn industry using VHS is what killed betamax.
- Pay per view business model.
- Pop up ads.
- Webcam streaming.
- Videos on the internet. Late 90s early 00s, LimeWire and Napster were filled with porn. - Video compression due to overwhelming demand for porn and slow bandwidths.
- Streaming videos on the internet. Places like sublime directory back in the day before YouTube hosted porn as well as Kimbo fights in crystal clear 240p.
- VR. Yeah VR games are cool but wacking off with screens strapped to your face is novel. There are a ton of VR porn games and videos shot in that format. The complete lack of porn on PSVR surely hurt it.
- AI. I thought AI would simply be a neat tool for wording formal emails and such. I wasn't sold on it until my computer started generating incredibly detailed smut in seconds without being connected to the internet. Now it can animate it as well with surprisingly good results. This tech will obviously get crazier and crazier as it improves at such a rapid pace.

I don't even know where I'm going with this, it's just interesting to think about and I'm sure Ive only scratched the surface. I wouldn't be surprised if the space race was because some scientists thought wacking off in zero gravity might be different than on earth. If we were a society of eunuchs who spawned out of thin air or something, how different would the world be?

Just think, back when prostitution, sex slaves, and harems were common, technological innovation was really slow. Dudes (the ones with access to all that stuff, anyway) pretty much kept things on an even keel and spent their time hunting, philosophizing, and dreaming up great poems and stories.

Then women started organizing, chastity religions took root, and men had to push progress to create a substitute for the poontang or compete for it.

Fortunately in 10 years there will be sex bots and full contact VR, so men can rest and get back to singing songs and getting laid :P

I knew a guy who started in business back in the 80's by renting VHS players (They were super expensive at the time) with a few porn tapes for a weekly fee. He was making absolute bank for a while until the price of players came down.

Don't forget Blu-ray. That's the reality reason they beat off out HD-DVD.
