I dont like having facial hair so I have to shave it off, but I hate shaving, im just so bad at it. I wish the mach 3 actually makes you look like the guy of the commercial

God's Hand said:1. Get a Mach 3 Power.
2. Get Gillette Sensative shaving gel.
3. Get Gillette after shave.
4. Wet your face with hot water. Towel dry lightly.
5. Apply shaving gel.
6. Put shaver under scolding hot water (as hot as you can get).
7. Shave UP (not down).
8. When done, splash your face with freezing cold water. Dry.
9. Apply after shave.
It's simple, and you won't get burned.

sefskillz said:I was under the assumption that you should put the shaver under cold water as it constricts the blade and makes it more efficient.
I've heard shaving up (or against the grain) can be bad as well, so I only do it when I want a really close shave.

gofreak said:Same here. I do shave downwards, but if I want a proper shave I simply MUST shave upwards also. It's just not close enough shaving down only. Unfortunately, the fast majority of my cuts come from shaving upwards..
I tend to use King of Shaves products (the face wash pre-shave, the gel for the shave, and then the post-shave gel).
teiresias said:I personally cannot stand Gillette products. I just hate them with a passion because they seem to make my skin even more sensitive to shaving than it already is. I prefer to use Neutrogina products - their Skin Clearing Shave Cream and their balm afterwards, it's great. I've been thinking of trying that new vibrating Mach3 though, just for a change from the Mach3 Turbo.

2) Don't use hot water to rinse off your blades when you are shaving. Heat makes metal expand and warp. Use Cold water and your blades will contract a bit making the blade tighter and sharper.

Drensch said:I think the reason people hate shaving is because so many people do it wrong, as evidenced by that bit of horrible advice to shave upwards.
It's pretty simple people:
1. If at all possible shave after you shower. Hot water softens your hair and opens pores.
2. Use a sharp razor with at least 2 blades and glide strip. If your hair is really long use an electric clipper to get it down to shaving length first.
3. Use a lubricant, but don't use too much. The idea is to get a thin layer even applied everywhere. It's also not a bad idea to let the cream/gel/oil to "soak" for a minute or two.
4. Never shave against the grain! It is the easiest way to fuck yourself up. Always shave down or back, with the grain.
5. Avoid going over areas more than once.
6. Use short deliberate strokes, cleaning the razor often. And don't try to set some sort of speed record.
7. rinse in cold water, it will tighten your skin and close your pores.

miyuru said:I shave both up and down. How the hell can you only shave down and get rid of everything? Explain that one.
Shave with the grain to get most of the hair off (longer portions), then come back against the grain to finish off and get a close shave.
"If you find that shaving with the grain of your beard doesn't achieve a close enough shave, then you can always safely shave across the grain afterwards."
Both, real macho men rip off their hair then chew it. Builds charactersefskillz said:Wait, is the fruit for taste or smell? Either way thats awesome.
