Better than it has any right to be. But it's not for everyone.

It's a roguelike, and therefore will be frustrating and highly repetitive for lots of people. I hate pretty much all roguelikes, but still managed to get sucked into this one. I've played for at least 45 hours and I didn't get any repeated dialogue. While you go through the same levels, you get little bits of new story and character study the entire time. And you have multiple different things that carry over progression between runs, which I appreciate. The combat itself is snappy and fun, with a huge range of playstyles between powers and weapon choice. I certainly recommend it. Since it's on Switch and great for pick up and play sessions, I've been hooked. I'm sure it's just as good on other systems. Watch some videos on it if you're not sure.

It's a day at home in the rain in Japan. You explore your home and the surrounding area. Talk to your family members. It gets a lot of praise from people who have lived in Japan.
