I hope Playground Games improve the replays in Forza Horizon 6!

I'm enjoying Forza Horizon 5 for the most part, but the one thing that really sticks out like a sore thumb is the replay function. I just don't bother with it now because I can never seem to find a satisfying camera angle to watch the race from.

I suppose GT7 has spoilt me in this respect - I don't think there is another racing game with better replays.

In Forza Horizon 5 there isn't an option during a replay (as far as I can tell) that automatically switches to different cameras throughout the race. I only seem to be able to manually change to different perspectives, all of which are dreadful - with the camera often cutting into scenery, or being too close to the car.

I acknowledge that the game is open-world, but I'm certain that the replays could be improved. I've had some pretty decent races, and I'd liked to have watched them back without having to piss about trying to find good angles every few seconds.

What do you guys think of the replays?

I only like to watch replays in motorsport games with real life circuits and they're especially good in GT7. Never play them in Horizon games (or other open world racers).

I hope they create a meaningful progression system like racing games already had 20 years ago, in fh5 I got a top tier car few races in, it makes no sense, it gives no motivation to play except brainless racing for nothing. Bring back well structured "small time getting big" story cliche, etc, nobody cares, but at least it will not be as ridiculous as I found it to be.

I kind of agree, but I think rags to riches progression is more suitable to a circuit racer, and I hope GT8 has that kind of career mode.

I treat FH5 like an arcade racer and I quite like the fact that I can choose any car that I own to race with and the competition is matched.

I think one area of improvement for me would be to allow us to complete a series of races (street races for example) in sequence without having to drive to the next one. I think the open world should be used only as a playground to find secrets and generally piss about. It makes matters worse that you need to collect a load of signs so that you can fast travel to other races. I always sigh when the distance shows as 5km or more to the next race.

replays in open world racers are always a bit shit, even in gt/forza i generally watch them a few times when the games new but after that skip them everytime.

I think replays can be useful to watch to see where you can improve. I also love to watch replays after I've made a great pass. In fact, I've saved a few replays in GT7. I also enjoy seeing the cars and scenery at cool angles - something I'd still enjoy in FH5 if the replays weren't so useless.

There's a passenger seat replay angle in GT7 which is absolutely fantastic. You can see the driver changing gears and such, and it's really dramatic.

I'm with you.

It's true that replay in an open-world game is a bit more difficult, but the interesting thing is that FH5 (and previous ones as well) is full of camera points that offer fantastic and spectacular shots. It would be as simple as creating a camera option that automatically switches between those shots/cameras. It would be a simple and easy solution. 🤷

I hope they know how to offer this for FH6.

There is much bigger issues to worry about and I hope they waste zero time on the replay system. The auction house system needs a complete overhaul, the fomo and limited releases of cars is absurd, the Eliminator mode is broken and frustrating, the wheelspin system is rigged and stupid, the leader boards are literally useless as they are all displaying hacked accounts as the top #10,000 records in any given category, hide and seek mode is half baked and easily cheesed, the car customization is (no joke) worse than some Playstation 2 racers. Replays are at the bottom of the list for most I'll assume.

Out of interest, are you finding the races either too easy or too difficult?

It's up and down really, and mostly depends on the kind of race. I struggle a bit with the rally races, but I tend to do well in the street races.

I've been prompted to move the difficulty up and down on several occasions, but I'm currently on expert. I'll restart a race until I get first position, so it can take a few of restarts at worst.

Dont really care about replays, I just hope they can figure out a way to make the game feel fresh somehow. Maybe they are just hoping the long break between 5 and 6 will do it, but a little change-up would help. 3, 4 and 5 are all excellent games but franchise fatigue does really start to set in, and just a new location might not be enough.

I just find the difficulty in horizon games is all over the place and ruins my enjoyment. Some races are too easy and a bit boring. Other races it feels I can't get anywhere near first.

I think part of what you're experiencing could be down to which vehicle you are using. Sometimes, I'll pick a particular car and I'll be struggling to keep up with the pack, then with a different car I'm a lot more competitive. I'm not sure if the AI racers are selected from a band of vehicles in the same category as the one you pick. Maybe some categories are a bit more expansive than others, so it's easier to pick a car that is less likely to keep up with the others?

The GTA games and their action camera prove, that it is completely possible to have nice camera angles in an open world game.
Bothered my from the beginning of the Forza Horizon series that the replay cameras are so uninspired.

It was awhile since I played it but iirc you get recommended to increase difficulty if they see that you win everything easily. There are some brutal races in the game. Progression is a bit messy though I agree on that, you have a story mode of sorts but it has issues.

In general I like FH3 more but FH5 is still pure arcade racing fun imo, the map is varied and there are tons of stuff to do. But you get new cars too easily. It's been a problem in all Horizon games tbh.

Don't play it as a regular racer. Just go have fun and use it as a chaotic sandbox arcade racer. And make sure you unlock and do the longer marathon races, I love those.

to make replays better they should stop simulating the opponents and make them behave like real cars, it is not going to happen.

Besides the replayers, here is the list of improvements I wish the game gets:-

1. The map, fh5 map was forgettable imo. I really hope they spice things up.

2. The lanes are too wide and unrealistic. I get why they did it, it makes driving easier but narrow lanes are more realistic, memorable and demand more of your attention. Not to mention how they improve the sense of speed.

3. More traffic. Currently they are pretty easy to avoid and honestly just subconsciously ignorable. Increase the density and make it a real challenge to avoid them while driving fast.

4. Fix the progression system, I got an astron martin vantage and porsche 918 spyder just 5 minutes into the game. And just didn't have any reason to change cars afterwards. I don't think I had to buy even one car.

5. Give more reasons to use different cars. The horizon games generally have a huge car list and most people, including me, barely used 10 cars. In contrast, in gran turismo 7, due to races having constraints and due to how different each car is( especially when it comes to tire degradation and fuel efficiency added to the mix), I have tried nearly every single car the game has to offer.

6. Add more variety of events and open world activities, the speed traps, jumps etc are not good open world activities, imo.

7. Add failure states to the horizon events thing. They lose their charms when it doesn't matter how well or bad you are doing and you realise how everything is on rails.

8. Most people won't like this, but add fuel and damage mechanics along with tire wear. Make people have to car for their cars
