i have over 100 gba and 100 gamecube games....i just cant seem to get into games anymore....ugh i hate this...my passion for games still is here....but the heart for it is slowly going away....

i want to game....i just cant.....i sit here refreshing the forums about games, but cant seem to play them....

And why is this a big deal?

Take a break. If you end up not wanting to play them, sell them, and find another hobby. There are more important things in life.

I feel your pain. You should donate them to the give GDGF free games fund :)

only one company... nay, one man, can save you....

get someone to reseal the games and return them at walmart.

:lol

I've been enjoying games since forever ....... but yea, ever since I experienced Mario64 I've been looking for *that* feeling again....

donno, plenty of awesome stuff has come about ---- just want more things to challenge the concept of interactivity.

Seems like one of your problems is that you buy too many games to begin with. How you managed 100 Gamecube games is beyond me - considering there is only maybe 30 worth playing on the system (that coming from a Nintendo fan.)

Take a break. Come back later on and see if there is any interest again. If not, sell your shit and move on to another hobby.

It's true.

As I get older, talking about games and gaming news is more fun than playing the actual games (save the occassional mario or zelda). Sad times. :(

I have vowed not to sell anything though. I want my kids to play super mario brothers on an NES.

so i wonder how much money he paid for these 200+ games. i'm guessing ~$150.

whats your problem? if you could buy a 200+ brand new games for little more than 200 dollars wouldn't you?

Nobody wants to hear it, and we get these god damned things every two days.

I can't get into games at the moment, but I ain't crying about it. I'm just gorging myself on books, movies, and other bullshit. When the time is right, I'll dim the lights and make sweet sweet love to my PS2 once more.

My problem still lies with that you had to use Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, a game a TON of people wanted for $10, to get your credit.

Don't worry about. 2004 had lots of "growing up/life" things going on for me, and I hardly played games outside of DDR for exercise. I simply wasn't interested. This year I'm more relaxed and confident and my attention span and enjoyment is stronger than ever.

Are you fullfilling yourself spiritually, mentally and physically? If not, it's very easy to get burned out with hobbies.

You simply need a break for a few months. Then come back and play ONE game at a time that you really like. And don't buy anymore, no matter how rare or awesome it may be, just focus on the ones you got.

But first the break.

S'truth. Pick the few games that you love most and sell the rest. You can't expect yourself to be enthusastic about playing when you simply have too much to ever enjoy.

Remember, this is a hobby about having fun with what you enjoy, not having the biggest collection or owning every single "hot" new release that comes out. Find what you enjoy and get rid of the rest.

Here's what you do: Sell all your games. I know, I know. The collector within you won't have it. Well, fuck that guy. Kick him off your shoulder or whatever you have to do.

Then, wait a while.

After a good break, buy yourself an NES along with Super Mario Bros. 1 and The Legend of Zelda 1, and a couple of games you've never played before(Check out GameFAQs for a good list of games).

Then, have fun!

FUN.

I find that when you start 'hording' games rather than playing them, you start enjoying each individual title less and less. Then you start playing them less. Eventually, you'll find yourself with literally hundreds of games to choose from, but you just can't bring yourself to play any of them because before you know it, you've spoiled yourself silly, and you have no more appetite for gaming. So, sell it all. And start fresh.

What I don't understand is that people actually *worry* about this sort of thing. It isn't a bad thing to have a shift in interests.

No offense, but if you have 100 Gamecube games, and to a lesser extent, 100 GBA games, chances are a lot of it are filler/trash that can kill any interest in gaming for anyone. :lol It'd probably be good to expand into PS2 and Xbox games.

SonicMegaDrive is right about one thing: sell all your games. Good God, sell all of those

then buy a GENESIS along with Mega Turrican, Ecco the Dolphin and Sonic 2 and some other genny games of your choosing

You need a serious break from Nintendo

maybe it's because you know everything that's bad about games and it sorta ruins it... next gen i'm gonna stop reading game shit and buy whatever looks cool then i'll have no idea and itll be great

I could go for some Shinobi 3 right about now. That game was the shit. The best was when you got so good and hoarded so many lives that you could get to the last boss and suicide him to death. ROCK.

I agree completely.

Stop reading reviews, magazine, internet, or otherwise.

Play games that aren't perceived as being "Great" every once and a while. You never know, you might find a game you like. Even if the games are bad, you'll appreciate the truly great ones even more. Oh, also, rent more games. Blockbuster still carries Gamecube titles, right?

Anyone else have a hilarious mental picture of this really fat guy going around buying cheap games and returning them to Wal Mart with a stupid smile on his face and then coming home to hundreds of games crying?

I dunno, I own like 80 GCN games myself (and about 140 GBA games)...

AWWWW YEAH!

It's pretty doable.. somehow I managed to accumulate 50 or 60. If I didn't buy most multiplatform ones on the XBox, I'd have over 100 Cube titles.

Man, I like Gamecube but even if I purchased every decent multiplatform title across the board I'd end up only with like 40 worthwhile titles. Every other game is just people with bad taste or a serious collecting problem, honestly.

Sell 60 of those games, and then like 60 of those GBA games and then take the cash and do something that's actually good. Like rent a new system to see if that helps 'refresh' your gaming tastes - a different approach is always good - or not buy games at all. Buy movies, buy sex, buy drugs, buy books.

Or put it away and save up for when you see something you know for a fact you want.

Holy crap i think you might be onto some truth here!

i've been starting to feel like this lately too.
i have to have at leat 60-70 Gamecube games, 80 plus xbox games not to mentione GBA, DS games and 50 or so N64 games and some Genisis games as well.

tons i have only put in for as little as 5 minutes just to check out and now i sit around playing stuff i have already beat unable to make myself actually spend the time it takes to get into a new ones story.

i think you are right, i have way to much to bounce back and forth to.
i either need to just start one and finish it or sell them all and start over one at a time.

I've found that as I've gotten older, it's gotten harder and harder to dedicate huge blocks of time to gaming. Instead, I've found myself playing more "pick up and play" games like shmups, pinball games, KD, and fighters. I've got a huge RPG backlog that I only ever get to play if I'm home sick from work.
