I just spontaneously bought Sony's Platinum Headset

It's that official PlayStation 7.1 Headset. I want to hear some opinions from you guys instead of generic literally who forums.

1) How do you like it? In terms of sound and comfort.

2) What about durability?

3) Can I count on it being compatible with PS5? (Important question, should've thought of that before I bought it)

Thanks in advance.

I'll buy one to use with my pc and my switch.

For the ps5, I'll buy the 3d pulse.

I heard 7.1 distorts the sound, you should consider listening at stereo.

I rock dank cans like this,

Had the gold's and they broke after a few years. Pin snapped where they fold up.

Now have the cheaper pair. Think they're advertised to be used with psvr.

Good enough for me.

I have had them since launch and they're great. Comfy & durable with good quality sound.

I doubt it's going to be compatible with PS5 though.

I've had the platinum since my birthday in June last year, I love them. Sound quality is amazing, microphone is clear, they're comfortable, battery life is good and my 2 year old has been a bit rough with them in play and they're still fine. I sometimes find he's found them and casually walking around with them on lol

Dommel Dommel what makes you think they won't be compatible with PS5?
-The PS3 premium headset was compatible with PS4
-it would be super duper anti consumer
-I'd kill myself, that shit wasn't cheap

Because they announced a new headset for the PS5, to me it would be weird if the PS4 ones would be compatible especially because of the emphasis they're putting on 3D Audio this time.

But I could be very wrong of course, it's all speculation.

But they also underlined that people without high end audio equipment will reap benefits of the Tempest engine.
So yeah I myself am not sure either I can just hope...

The headset is surprisingly good. It's comfortable, sound quality is good, and it's definitely durable. I've had mine for a while and it's held up well.

Yeah by now I have actually tried it out after fully charging it and
JEEZ what the fuck. It sounds so insane holy moly.
So far it's the most expensive audio equipment I ever bought as a non-audiophile.

They're fine. Bought them when I copped Days Gone. Don't really use them much though. Wish they had more games listed that took advantage of them.

The PS3 Golds still reign supreme.

I bought them some months ago because my gold headset were in a pretty bad shape.

I'm not an audiphile but they were under heavy discount and i can use them both with ps4 and pc so it was an easy choice.

The rubber arc that press on your head is very uncomfortable after a while, the gold were slightly more comfy, still not ideal after an hour or 2.

I'm more interested in knowing how all the modes work, i only used them as stereo headset for the moment.

I'm sure they'd be compatible... but...

Cerny went on and on and on about their new sound technology and then they rolled out the new headset in the promo that is designed to utilize all that new tech ...

So I would just wait for those.

I've been using Platinum for a few years and it's a great headset. Very good sound quality and positioning in games which gave me an edge in MP many times. I've also used it with PC and Mac for work from home in the recent months, both work fine without any need for additional drivers.
What you can expect in terms of problems:
- After some time (it took mine about 3 years), the plastic film on cushions might peel off. You can buy replacements online but I'm already waiting for the Pulse 3D so I'll let it as it is.
- Due to wear, left speaker goes silent from time to time (also started happening after several years). I found more complaints like that online so it might be common. A solution is quite simple: press hard on it while wearing the headset, it works.

That thing broke on me in like two months, and I treat headphones very lightly.

I since moved onto a SteelSeries for PS4 and PC. Much better, and it's so rugged I could probably beat someone with them.

I wanted to get one for tlou2 since my ps3 pulse's sounded insane with the first game, but I'll just wait for ps5 3d audio ones.

Buy yourself a decent pair of open-backs like Sennheiser HD 599 and stop this foolishness (extra recommended due to how it handles the wire - which is generally the #1 that breaks for headphones). These Sony branded headphones are overpriced just so you can have that Sony logo. It's a waste of money!

Sound isn't as good as in TLOU1. At least with the gunshots.

I mean that could all change if they drop a TLOU2 app for it. They might've already. I haven't used the headset in awhile and the apps usually drop within a few weeks of release.

The RDR2 one is the one I use for any sort of third person shooting
