I bought MS’s $500 ($429) 4TB Ssd Card, Ask Me Anything!

I got the 1TB way back when I went to France for my honeymoon, it was discounted and I managed to get a tax refund on it too.

Not sure why anyone needs more than 2TB total storage though.

You better hope this is compatible with the next Xbox

I don't get it either. I only have games installed that I'm actually playing and I rarely play more than one game at a time.

I saw the launch price was 70 dollars cheaper than it will be, so I said eff it.
Theoretically, I won't have to worry about space anymore.
I know you will get a lot of pushback, but if I were still into Xbox, I would get one also. For me if your into a system and its the most pain free way to enjoy it, then why not. I do love that its just placing the card in the slot in the back, even if it is overpriced. I bought the 1gb at the time withought hesitation.

$429 is not "pain free"

I got that on sale and couldn't imagine going below 2 TB now. I easily fill it up with just a fraction of stuff I'm interested in. I dont really need more than 2, but I could easily use it if I had it.

Missed the /s off I guess.

Besides everything in my loft can be downloaded and played on my PC without me ever having to get my hands dirty. Regardless of what happens in the future everything will be available one way or the other.

A windows pc is the least trustworthy thing in my universe.

"Good luck!"

So that crap is actually $500 and they're pretending to give you a discount at launch? I was laughing at $429 when this thing silently released at $429 but it being removed then coming back at $500 is hilarious.

I bought Western Digital SN850X 4TB for only $249 last year during sales sales sales

This is PCMR way, not just bigger specs but bigger bargain hunters… I thought of saying bigger brains, but that's hurtful 😐
That and 22TB external drive for archiving. :messenger_sunglasses:

I looked for the socket on that Xbox ROG Ally handheld but could not find one. I assume you might as well glue that 4TB into the Xbox as that's where it's going to live forever.

I can't believe they sold one of these.

I do have a question.

Do you work for or have you ever been employed by Microsoft?

I can't imagine a dude off the street bought this with no backstory. What's the story my bro, the full story? Were you tired of COD being so big in size? Detail us!

Also, Hotel Dusk FTMFW!

Wouldn't upgrade your Internet speed be cheaper and also more useful for other things besides gaming?

You have 4TB of space now but you can't even store porn there...

I imagine someone at Microsoft is having the same reaction to OP buying the $500 SSD as someone at WinRAR does when some idiot actually buys a license to that.

Does it slide in smoothly, almost luxuriously and then lock in place with a satisfying click?
Was that feeling worth $250?
If not - what exactly did you pay for?

Do you guys remember the fake outrage because Sony opted for standardized approach and people had to open PS5 cover to upgrade?

Those were the days man
No but I remember people saying how great it was that the memory card was then locked to one system, rather than being able to plug and play on multiple devices. Remember it well

Tests on the first releases of the 1TB Seagate card showed that it performed slightly worse than the internal drive in game loading.
Have you compared loading speeds on this 4TB card versus a like-for-like loading scenario on the internal drive?
Larger SSDs have always performed better than the smaller units in the same family. I'm just wondering if they have reached performance parity with the internal drive now.
