1) Take HDD with software installed on it from old computer and put in new computer and have software work
More or less. I was just wondering if I COULD run 32 bit software on a 64 bit comp. Also I am not worried about the cd key. I got a couple free coppies from my college. I am sorry if I caused troble to anyone. I have had no expreince with 64 bit I an just worried is all. And thank you guys for responding to my posts. I really do apreciate the support, thanks gaf.·feist· said:Well, I see compatibility has already been answered, but shadowcomplex still isn't being very clear about what he's trying to do.
Sounds like it's this:

Main thing: Do you need the capabilities of an i7 vs an i5 rig?pancakesandsex said:Did some tweaking and here is what I came up with.
Slightly smaller HDD (500gb version of the F3 model that was recommended)
Bunch of combo deals
Slightly better video card (1gb GTX 460 versus the 768mb one)
Modular power supply
Different ram manufacturer
Optical drive
Besides an SSD which could be added later, are there any other suggestions anyone could make? I'm thinking of biting the bullet on this tonight.
It's not bad, but it's not something that you couldn't combo on your own either.theshizzle said:I was looking at this combo on newegg:

The only thing i see missing is a discrete video card, but it does have an onboard one that isn't too bad.
What do you guys think? expensive? performance? value?

Card is fine, some games default vsync on, a few have 60FPS caps.ZZMitch said:So I have been testing out my new GTX 460 on my gaming PC (i5 760, 4gig Ram etc).
I just have a quick question, I was testing out the card on the Company of Heroes benchmark and the framerate seemed capped at 60fps. I was comparing this to others who had similar set ups and some were getting fps rates of over 100. I was just wondering if others had done something like manually disabling vsync. I am completely fine with running it at 60 fps, but I just want to make sure my card is working fine and the game actually has a 60fps cap.
i5 + GTX 460 for WoW hands down.sestrugen said:I've been reading too much reviews/benchmarks/opinions about processors and video cards and I can't seem to decide on which one would be better for my world of warcraft computer. Theres the i5 platform vs amd x4 (phenom II) and gtx460 vs ati 6850, there's too much pro's and con's for all of them I just cannot wrap my head around it. Ideally I would like capabilities to play some other titles I have missed but my main focus is world of warcraft, can anyone give me some real world benchmarks when running those parts?

Nvidia's dual 5x0 card comes in 2010
We got a fresh update on what happens after GTX 580 eventually launches. There should be a faster card, coming most likely in December 2010.
The new card is based on two GF100-derived cores, probably similar to the GF104, so we can only imagine the TDP of that card. Our educated guess for this time is at least 400W card, something that will get very hot indeed. It would appear that we are almost at the verge of a new era, where water cooling will be a must.
AMD also plans Antilles, Radeon HD 6970 dual Cayman card, and this one also looks to be quite a hot one. A GF100GX2 was on the roadmap for quite some time, but Nvidia never decided to release the card. We guess that chose to drop it because of its enormous TDP, courtesy of two GF100 chips.
So the launch is this year, which usually means December, but we know that super high end enthusiasts will wait to see who wins this round Radeon HD 6970 or Geforce GTX 5x0 GX2, before they make the buying decision.
Geforce 560 also candidate for 2010
Nvidia has a few more chips in its pocket. In addition to the soon-to-launch GTX 580 it also plans to release the 570 and 560 cards.
The GTX 570 will wait until Nvidia runs out of GTX 470 chips and cards and we are hearing that the GTX 560 might come this year. As we hear, it is a slightly improved GF104.
After a few months there should be a Geforce GT 540 and 520 cards for the entry level but they are almost certainly aiming for a 2011 launch.
Decisions on whether to launch some chips or not are changing almost on a daily basis, so the Geforce GTX 560 might also launch in 2011. It is up to Nvidia to figure out what to do with the GTX 460, which is doing quite well. Price drop perhaps?
Hazaro said:Need it now or can you wait a few months? Do you know if any programs you use will take advantage of Hyper Threading?
Well, in layman's terms, it caps your GPU in such a way so that it's not showing more frames than what your monitor can actively display. The end result to you is that you won't see any screen tearing.ZZMitch said:yeah vsync was the culprit, I just finished downloading CSS and tried the benchmark there and with vsync I get 60 fps and without it I get 230 fps. I dont need all that fps so I will be sticking with vsync on.
I am just curious though, what does vsync do exactly? I mean does it have any effect on visuals and what not?
They still haven't released a version that compatible with the 250.00+ drivers. Just checked earlier today as a matter of fact. Some folks in the nHancer forum suggested Nvidia Inspector as a substitute in the meantime. I haven't tried it yet myself so I can't comment on its usefulness.evil solrac v3.0 said:so is nhancer still borked for 200xx drivers or is it working fine? that and PhysX are my two main factors in switching from my current setup to either a GTX 470 SLI or 6870 crossfire setup.

Can anyone tell me if the 5770 still a decent card? I've got a 5770 and it's great for gaming. I play all my games (except BFBC2) on max settings and 1920x1080 resolution without V-SYNC. Plus, it's low on power consumption.PistolPete said:Can anyone tell me if the 5770 still a decent card? You should know that vsync typically adds input lag which is very noticable on a mouse aiming setup, while a little less so using a gamepad. I would recommend leaving it off for anything that is more competitive, online FPS for example.
Also, you should be using D3D Overrider for vsync and triple buffering.
i5 system with a 6850. Is Crysis 2 still this year? Witcher?matmanx1 said:Here's my current rig (the important parts, anyway):
Intel E6600 cpu
Intel DG965 mobo
4GB RAM (1066 I think?)
EVGA GTX 260 216 core
Antec TruPower 2.0 550w
Windows 7 64bit
It's been a great system in terms of reliability but I'd like to upgrade soon'ish to be current but also to be ready for Crysis 2 and The Witcher 2 and anything else I'd like to throw at it.
Your CPU will be the biggest bottleneck after you upgrade your card to a 460/6850.D3RANG3D said:What would be the best GPU to go upgrade my rig with without bottlenecking it?
Set your Voltage to what RealTemp/CoreTemp gives you as the VID (Make sure it's valid!) and see if that works.Puncture said:I did last night, I was seeing around 33 to 34 idle on all four cores, then when running that stress test program (the one that put CPU usage at 100%) after like 10 minutes it had a high of 64 on three of the cores and a high of 62 on one of them. This is at stock settings, although I noticed when I selected the XMP profile for my ram in bios, my cpu voltage says "Auto" which kinda worries me. I dont want to overclock or over volt, I think I may need to find out what the stock voltage is, then go key it into the bios.
But anyways are those temps good? Ill run another test again today, found a IKEA Jerker on craigslist today and drove out to go buy it and bring it home. Havent had time to do much on the new system yet.
Those parts are still valid. You can just get everything on there for a bit more.ChoklitReign said:I think I've lost faith in Newegg. I can't build an affordable 6850 build anymore and even a 5770 build is $600. Can Hazaro update his budget build?
The 5770 is a decent card, but not at $150. The GTX 460 768MB blows it away and can be had for $150AR (eVGA/Sparkle).PistolPete said:Can anyone tell me if the 5770 still a decent card? That's right, download and install the whole RivaTuner package (great for overclocking nvidia cards). D3D overrider should one of the shortcuts in the start menu folder created when you install.ZZMitch said:Ok, thanks! I will look that up.
edit- So I downloaded it (Part of Rivatuner?) and it went into my downloads folder and I can't open it or anything.

Don't buy until you need to.
Your CPU will be the biggest bottleneck after you upgrade your card to a 460/6850.
The 4670 is a solid mid range card. What are your expectations, price, games, res, etc.
Set your Voltage to what RealTemp/CoreTemp gives you as the VID (Make sure it's valid!) and see if that works.
Those temps are spot on.
Those parts are still valid. You can just get everything on there for a bit more.
Newegg decided to kill ALL the low end CPU and motherboard combos so I can't really do anything about that.
The 5770 is a decent card, but not at $150. The GTX 460 768MB blows it away and can be had for $150AR (eVGA/Sparkle).
CPU will also play a very important factor for those 2 games.

Is my athlon 2 x2 bottlenecking my 4670?
Return the CPU. I'm usually not so critical but getting a dual-core is incredibly short sighted. Get a 640 or 955 instead.D3RANG3D said:actual CPU and RAM:

Upgrading RAM speed will get you a 1% performance boost. If possible buy the same 2GB kit you have to save money. If not, try to sell off the DDR2 you have.
4670 is a fine card for that resolution if you want more get a 460 768MB for $150 or a 6850 for $180. Both are great buys.
It's not a deal breaker. It gets solid performance in comparison to the Phenom.D3RANG3D said:The athlon 2 x2 only has 2mb of cache total the phenom 2 has 6mb just in L3cache, wouldn't that make a difference? That and I'm a filthy poor, I will return it and get a quad athlon 2.
You can setup fan profiles in MSI AfterBurner if you'd like.zedge said:Ah.. thank you. So on auto setting it does not slow down when idle? Seems the fan is always at the same speed. Was 73% in the settings. I set to 50% which is much quieter. If the card gets too hot will it kick in on its own to speed up the fan?
Hazaro said:It's not a deal breaker. It gets solid performance in comparison to the Phenom.
It's a $99 3Ghz Quad, that's just insane value.
You can setup fan profiles in MSI AfterBurner if you'd like.
