1. Will most games support a controller? What about the older classics?
2. Will most games support vibration/rumble?
3. What kind of results could I expect in Modding Skyrim? How good could we get this to look and run? Any details on this? If we can get it looking amazing, we'd even be happy with a 30fps locked.
4. Going to game on relatively modern/new TV's only. Will we get screen tearing and/or stuttering because we're not going to be using Gsync or Freesync monitors? Will Adaptive or Dynamic VSync sort this out?
5. Would an RX480 be better for the build than the 1060 we're looking to use? Will DX12/Vulkan in future games be relevant to this decision?
6. How well will this build be able to run VR, if at all?
7. CPU. Like what's been said in this thread already, the CPU is perhaps more than adequate for 1080p/60fps but trying to somewhat buy for a bit of future proofing. Is this a wise decision and/or is it safer to ensure 1080p/60fps having this CPU?
8. MOTHERBOARD. Originally looking at Gigabyte GA-Z170MX Gaming 5 Micro ATX but this was £144. How does the motherboard we're looking at now for £55 compare? We do know we can't sli/crossfire with the £55 board but you can't sli with the 1060 anyway.
= Thanks to cHinzo I now know that I would need the Z170 if I want to overclock.
9. Loosing SPDIF connection on the new motherboard, is there any way I can still connect my older hi-fi system that doesn't have HDMI and still get Dolby 5.1?
10. Originally looked at MSI Gaming X GTX 1060 but after checking specs, this JetStream has a higher clock and lower db so is the JetStream better? The Gaming X was @ £275.
11. Case chose because it has good reviews and looks ok enough as well as being a mid tower and white.
12. Power Supply chose as although may be overkill, looking to perhaps future proof. Are we right in thinking going for a fully modular would be better especially as using a mid tower case and therefore don't want a load of wires everywhere we don't need? Tried to see if this was a Tier 1 psu per Tom's Hardware but couldn't find any info. Heard this psu can have a whine noise but not sure?
13. Does have a fully modular PSU mean I have still got to buy the wires or will they come with the other parts?
= Thanks to cHinzo I now know I'll get all the wires I need.
14. Included a cheap as chips Optical Drive just for those instances when might need to rip a CD lol!
15. When we set/build pc, will we need a wired keyboard/mouse as the wireless one won't be connected?
16. Got a cheap wireless keyboard and mouse already so not looking to buy any other for now.
17. Already got a wireless 360 controller, will I need to add Bluetooth somehow to this pc?
18. Not putting a wireless network in so need to use Ethernet as trying to save money. Did see a wireless adapter @ £20 though.
19. Still need an Operating System of Windows 10 to buy? My son is going to College in UK so can he get Windows 10 cheaper somehow as a student? I've looked and can't find any info on how to do this?
20. Will we need any extra fans, fan controllers or anything else missed?
21. Can a pc be placed in x1 room but be streamed to play games elsewhere in the house somehow?
22. Will Sony 7.1 Ps4 Surround Sound headphones work on pc in surround sound mode like in ps4? I'm pretty sure I've researched this in the past and the answer is no?
23. How much time do we need to spend when we buy a game to get it looking/running as good as possible? Are there any particular traits/tips to take into account?
We're obviously very inexperienced when it comes to pc's and gaming on them but once we've got the answers to the above, we're looking to start learning!
Thanks guys/gals for any input.
I'll try to answer some of these.
1. Yes, basically 98% of all modern releases (since 2008) supports a controller, i.e. Xbox 360/Xbox One controller natively. If you want to use a DS4 you need DS4Windows or something similar running in the background.
2. Yes, if the game supports a controller it supports rumble.
3. 1060 is a great card and Skyrim is an old game, and even with mods you'll get great results. It depends on the mods of course; you can make anything unplayable pretty easy, but if you're sticking to more popular stuff I think you're safe. And if you're targeting 30fps you can easily put some heavy stuff on.
4. V-Sync (and other variations) or Fast Sync will sort that out, yes. You don't need a G-Sync monitor, and you won't get any stuttering just because you're using a TV. Some games don't like multi-monitors though, so if you're using 2-3 monitors at the same time, try disabling them if you're having issues.

6. It's definitely VR-capable (it's above the recommended spec for both headsets), but how well is hard to tell, especially since the market is still in it's early days. Things will change and games will be more demanding in the future, as usual.
7. Depends what you mean by future proofing. You can buy an i7 and hope games will perform better with HT (which is exclusive to i7s) in the future. Or buy a more expensive CPU ... but it's not worth it imo.

9. What do you need Dolby 5.1 for? PC games are PCM (uncompressed) 5.1 audio, so you can use normal analog cables to get 5.1. I think you can send 5.1 via GPU (HDMI), but I'm not sure.

12. Modular is always worth it if you can afford it. EVGA is a great brand as well. Not sure about Tier 1.
13. You don't have to worry about cables, at least not for now. You'll get what you need. All power cables are included with the PSU, and other data cables (like SATA) are included with the motherboard.

15. Not sure I'm reading this right. The keyboard/mouse won't be connected? Why not? Or do you mean to ask if it works without any installation/drivers? if so, it should absolutely work fine. If not, it's an old/bad keyboard/mouse.

17. You'll need a Wireless Receiver. I'm not actually sure where you can get one these days. Take a look at some online retailers and see if they sell it; if not, you can buy one of the unofficial ones on Ebay for cheap. Look for Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver.
18. That's fine, just plug the Ethernet cable into the motherboard.
19. That's usually the case, yeah, but I can't tell for sure in your case. Should say something on their website about MSDNA.
20. No, you don't need them.
21. Yes, via Steam In-home Streaming. You need to connect all parties via cables or via WiFi. I definitely recommend using cables though!
22. Not sure, what kind of cable is it? Optical?
23. No time at all (?), but that depends on a lot of things. How much do you care? If you want good performance with the best possible graphics, take a look at the settings. If there's a preset, try medium and go up from there. If you want to tweak more or you're simply not happy, try some other settings. All games offer different settings and performance, but start with things like anti-aliasing, shadows, AO and textures.
