PlayStation Plus Price Increase for all Latin America - From April 16th for New Subscibers and June 24th for Continuing Subscribers

Well, as long as it lets Sony keep funding outstanding first party titles like the next TLOU re-release, the next Horizon re-release, or the next TLOU re-release, I think it's pretty easy to justify the price increase. /s

In all seriousness, I expect we'll see price increases like this across the board soon enough, with everything from Game Pass to Spotify taking advantage of the economy chaos coming out the US to jack up their profits.

Australia is now getting increase too.

PlayStation Plus Essential:

1 month: $12.95 AUD (previously $11.95 AUD)
3 months: $35.95 AUD (previously $33.95 AUD)
12 months: $102.95 AUD (previously $95.95 AUD)

PlayStation Plus Extra:

1 month: $20.95 AUD (previously $18.95 AUD)
3 months: $59.95 AUD (previously $54.95 AUD)
12 months: $187.95 AUD (previously $169.95 AUD)

PlayStation Plus Deluxe:

1 month: $23.95 AUD (previously $21.95 AUD)
3 months: $70.95 AUD (previously $63.95 AUD)
12 months: $214.95 AUD (previously $196.95 AUD)

More reason's to buy more games on PC.

I just got an email that Canada is also going up effective immediately, so the US is likely to follow.

Scumbag Sony.

Nice, these fuckers just raised the PS+ price AGAIN here. When my PS+ ends this year im not gonna sub anymore. Sony successfully converted me back into PC gaming anyway so they can keep the paywalled cloud saves and online

Console prices here in Brazil are becoming ''elite''; I think that for the next generation I'll only be using STEAM/PC; Sony and its abusive behavior of charging to use my internet can go to hell.

Iam from Europe but they have the audacity to increase it 30 bucks in Canada again. Their service isn't the best to begin with.

Suck it, Canadians!

It's also probably the reason they charge for their gaas games so people have to pay this outrageous prices to play them since f2p don't need plus. Not buying any of them going forward. Let them all crash and burn like Concord.

Sony is making record breaking profits off the back of cash-strapped gamers. Ask yourself why they are raising the prices when they are already making money hand over fist. It's corporate greed and it's going to catch up to them eventually.

Why exactly is USA dodging this price increase bullet?

Because of the relative strong USD.
Most places where they've increased the price recently were paying significantly less for Plus than the USA , and in most of these places the price is still bellow the equivalen of USD $80 even after the price increase (Canada ,though, now seems to be on par with the USA in pricing)

The big worldwide increase they had a while ago probably showed them that everyone complained but ultimately kept paying, so they'll now see how far they can push it.
Also it's not like they have a ton of competition. Xbox is basically dead in most of the world and the Switch 2 has comparable hardware costs and $80 games that will never go on sale so it's not exactly a budget option either.

PC isn't exactly cheap either in the rest of the world. A 4060ti in my country is more expensive than a Ps5, the cheapest I've seen the 9070XT is like $820 (+ 19% tax).

Its a failed model createad to counter gamepass ... all it did was UP ps plus prices and will eventually fade into oblivion... thank MS for this shitty unsustainable idea.
Thank you MS for forcing Sony to charge for multiplayer. Thank you MS for forcing Sony to create a competing service to Gamepass. Thank you MS for forcing Sony to charge more for said service. Thank you MS for forcing Sony to put their games on the PC platform. They at no point have any choice in the matter, MS gave them the idea so they have to follow through and emulate it.

I recognize I'm presenting a strawman, but it is in the same spirit of what you are implying. What a weird position to take.

You don't need to buy 4060TI to play most of the modern games. Fortnite? Marvel Rivals? Schedule I? None of them need 1k GPU.

At this point you can easily build a pc for all the premium pricing on console.

I'm genuinely interested what people voted when they did that survey about Playstation Plus, because to my understanding people said it was too much and they was unhappy with what was offered.
And this is their response?
With the Increase of the Digital PS5, Lowering of the Disc Drive and this..... it's like Sony is sabotaging the Digital market...

I understand the point you are making, and I dont take blame from Sony for their reactionary shitty measures, but the origin of the shitty ideas can't be denied either.

A 4060ti isn't a 1k GPU. Even if you go with a cheaper card, once you add the cost of every other component its still going to be relatively expensive.
You also don't need Ps+ to play a big chunk of the most popular games like Fortnite, Marvel Rivals, Roblox, COD Warzone, Genshin Impact, Rocket League and more.

You won't be able to build anything that gives you remotely close to the performance of the Ps5 for $399. Specially if you don't live in the USA or some other major market.
Sure, you can probably build something relatively decent for $600-700, and if you do the math it might even be cheaper in the long run once you add the cost of Ps+ and more expensive games. But the fact the up front cost will be significantly higher and you actually need to pick and buy all the parts and build the system yourself instead of it just being a box you buy in the store and get home to set up in 2 minutes will always put a limit on how much of a true competitor a self built PC is to a console.

That makes zero sense when the business model of a game is decided in the early stages of planning and Sony itself is releasing a F2P live service game this year.

Releasing barebones gaas games for a premium also makes zero sense but here we are.

You hated on Nintendo over this and now you hate Sony.

I bet if I went to Canada they would hate me for ruining their economy. I would never hate them just because the are from Canada, so they lose again. American compassion is the best compassion. The greatest. That's why Sony didn't drop the hammer on us like the did all the other countries.

I'll just unsub. I only subscribe for cloud saves anyway.

That said, the whole reason for the trade was to devalue other currencies but not the USD, giving Americans more buying power. Maybe it's working? I'd be curious if the exchange rate vs the American dollar has changed in these affected countries?

Anyway, if they do increase it in America, that will be awesome for me. It will give me 100% cover to sell more Switch 2's Before you call me a shill, no, not at all. For Nintendo, I work for free.

Just for those affected who might be looking for a new console, NSO is still like 20 dollars a year. NS2 coming soon, kekekekekeke.
