I need a new TV

I know, I know. Black Friday was last week, regardless something just came up and I need a new a TV.

been out of the loop, what should I get?

60 inch minimum if that makes a difference

edit: I hear a lot of people praise the C1? Is that the route to go?

For cheaper pick I'd look at Sony 65x85J at $999; for more expensive LG 65C1 at $1799.

If you don't care about HDMI 2.1, last year's Sony x950H might be interesting if you can get a good price. There are probably some clearance deals floating around.

How much do you want to spend and what will you use it for primarily? I have a CX so a C1 is certainly a great choice.

Now's a great time to get some great deals online. Also, I read the thread title and thought about Elvis. He likely needed a new TV every other day.

I'm out of the loop too but I personally don't think you can go wrong with what ever the new LG OLED is. Mine is a couple years old and it's the best TV I've ever owned. Picture is great and has all the streaming apps I use. Not sure what the pricing is right now but guessing it's around 2k for 65". But take that with a grain of salt since I'm sightly drunk and too lazy to do the research

Budget is around 2k

Will use it for gaming (xsx and switch) and movies/TV (primarily streaming)
65” c1 oled all day then. I have a 48” cx oled I use as my pc monitor and it’s amazing. The only thing I don’t like is that my primary and bedroom TVs aren’t oled too. I just had to buy a new bed otherwise I was about to buy a 55” for the bedroom then I’m saving up for a 77” oled for the main room at some point. Yes there are some issues with them but man the picture is so good. The first day I had mine I spent playing YouTube demo videos and my jaw was dropping. Do it. You won’t regret it.

I dont think they make 60" anymore (my old plasma was). So the size step you're looking at is 65" or more. You'll get 70, 75 and 85. My reco:

- Get it at Costco. 90 day returns and price match policy. Comes with 2 year standard warranty (should be pick up and drop off concierge service), an extra 3 years is only $100
- Get an OLED. It seems LG is the brand to get
- Get a model with as many HDMI 2.1 ports as possible, make sure to read up on the specs and try to ensure ALL the ports are 2.1. Some tvs have one really good port, bu the other 2 or 3 are crappier specs. Make sure it does VRR
- Motion smoothing should be standard but some are better than others. If you like the soap opera effect watching sports, get one with as high motion smoothing as possible. You can always turn it off
- Buy TVs that have the features you want NOW. Dont fall for the "it will come in a download update TBD". I have a Sony 900e (the TV everyone was bragging to get 4 years ago). Shit TV. Audio issues and got dead pixels already. The audio issues took a year for a OS update patch to come out and it still didnt fix for many of us. So thats an example of never waiting for a promised feature or fix. Even if the fix worked, it took a year for the patch

Up to you.

I did my 900e shipped to my house from Costco. No issues. I'd suggest pay the extra bit of money for the extra 3 years (5 total). The warranty is based on tiered pricing. The C1 will be be in the top tier which is $100 CDN for 3 years. I'm going to assume the US Costco has something similar. My 900e 5 year plan is over in a year, so when it comes due I'm going to get them to fix my dead pixels before warranty is over.

Also depends if you got room in your vehicle or can ask a friend or fam member to help with their van. A 65" tv or bigger takes up a lot of room in the back laid flat. My bro helped me pick up my plasma way back and laid flat it just fit into his MP5.

Dont forget to check the price every once in a while if the price drops after you buy it. I bought a different TV for my bedroom way back for $400 I think. Then suddenly it was on sale a couple months later for $100 off. I brought back my receipt just in case and they gave me back $100+tax. Rule is only one price drop matching allowed. And must be within 90 days.

I got a hisense 43 inch 4k with hdr that was the "tv of euro 2020" for very little, $500usd or so, and I've no complaints. Fluh. Not big enough for you i guess but the point I'm making is maxing out technology that will instantly become obsolete is a waste, just get something that was already good enough a few years ago.. imoimoimo chill y'all

Try to find a CX if you can, they'll be discounted now with it being last years model and there's not a great deal of difference between them & the C1. If you can't find one, then yeah, C1.

Good move going with Costco. Does shipping include setup service? I wouldn’t worry about it with them. Costco is the best.

Pretty sure it doesnt.... at least when I got a tv delivered.

Costco's TV prices are really no different than other stores. But the awesome warranty (2 yr standard) and pick up/drop repair service is key.

I had a TV bomb out on me, called them, and a repair guy came by picked it up, fixed it and dropped back at my house a week later.

Extra 3 years warranty was $100 for me for 5 years coverage. Best Buy wanted $400 for 5 years total.
