I propose well thought out OP with comparisons about a brilliant movie and the dude can't even bother to respond past the first sentence? Not cool.

E: The "little help" bit was just tongue in cheek though.

just you can't read my name correctly

I don't get the Avatar bashing, but I loved I, Robot too.

"Get off my car" is an excellent action scene.

Complaining about product placement in a futuristic movie is so lame. Do you people even open your eyes when you walk around, use a phone, drive your car, etc?

how many times can we post that tired pic in this thread?

Oh wow. That's embarrassing.

I was wondering why a mod had that kind of name.

This post is gold knowing what blackace's ethnicity is. Also, there is a loud mouth Gaffer with that name. That is where the confusion probably came from.

Just like your movie tastes...always wrong.

Ouch. That hurts bro. Teach me how to broaden my cinematic palette. What's that you say? Aeon Flux gets the next appreciation thread? You are a bold one.

next time you see him, ask him how he came by that name

Love how I, Robot gets called on this all the time.. but Back to the Future and Blade Runner did it big and are classic sci-fi flicks..

ahhh hell naw..

But Blade Runner is still infinitely better than both Back to the Future and I,Robot combined.

Touchy subject I see.

Fine.. but people complain more about the product placement than the story itself..

There is NO difference in pimping a product name.. pepsi and nike planned far ahead of time to get ad time in the movie.. Don't make it out to be BttF was some saintly movie that didn't do the evil product placement that I, Robot did. Because really they helped start that shit..

I didn't say it was saintly. I said that they were more imaginative with it. Also, in BTTF2 where it was most prominent, they didn't pimp existing or planned products, they made up strange, futuristic extensions of the brands. They didn't fall back on "Vintage" everything, and the items from the 1980s were mocked as baby's toys or quaint.

I didn't say BTTF was perfect. I, Robot was just incredibly blatant and unapologetic about it. I still don't hate the movie for it, if that's what you're implying.

I, Robot did the vintage thing once.. falling back on they did not.. If I remember correctly he mentioned the shoes when he got them and in a another scene.. after that what else did they fall back on? BttF was as balant as they come, it is a part of hollywood and movies. I, Robot didn't do it any more or worse than BttF, Blade Runner, Mission Impossible or any other big budget movie..

Did they explain why Lake Michigan was empty? I don't remember.

Oh, and the CG in the movie does not rival District 9 or Avatar. OP needs glasses.

the robot torpedo fight was badasss.

it always bugged me how smith eats only the damn filling of the pumkin pie.

the pic isnt accurate with my memory but its the closest i could find

I, Robot is awesome. It does retread some overused themes but the story is quite well put together and the acting was all around solid. Good CGI as well (not the best of the best tho).

To answer the op: because it doesn't have Leo DiCaprio or another more.........comfortable actor as the lead. Oh, and because Will Smith doesn't go "AW, HELL NAW!!!" in it.

Are you joking or are you seriously suggesting that the reason the movie isn't more well received is because Will Smith is just too unlikable of a lead?

I wanted to say the motorcycle, which was an important plot device since it was the only mode of transportation not controlled by the AI, but I did just look it up and there were only 300 of that model produced.

I can't name every single instance of brand and product placement in I, Robot. All I'm saying is when BTTF did it, it often tinged it with sarcasm or parody, or in BTTF2 they took a creative spin to it. (I admit Western Union got a pretty straight plug, but they were pretty legendary for holding on to letters like that anyway.) I'm sure I, Robot did that too in spots, but the detective's preference for "vintage" played things a little more straight. You asked why one was regarded over the other when both did it, and that's why I feel BTTF handled it better. I didn't say anything about it being "saintly."

omg no no no. you do not say that.

First you say you love I, Robot, then you say you love I Am Legend too, now you're gonna defend Ali? That movie is just god awful, and Smith is partly to blame.

I honestly never wanted to see it, and never did. It looked bad from the get go...

I like Will, think he is highly talented, but when he is rammed down my throat I am gonna regurgitate.

Is the truth no longer respected around here?

Like Will Smith movies, I'd appreciate if you keep the posts PG 13 please.

The real core of this thread is how I, Robot retroactively makes Dark City a bad movie.
remember when people thought DC was better than the matrix

that was kinda funny
