I swear Netflix is cheating

I live near the CA drop center so my turn around time for returning movie and getting new one is 3 days.

So I usually send movies back on Monday and receive new ones by Wednesday.
I get notification they received my movies on Tuesday and they send them out on same day.

However, if I do return the movies on Saturday, then I get notification on Monday.
But in that scenario, they always wait a day before shipping the movies next in que.

Supposedly there's a class action lawsuit taking place against Netflix for that same reason.
I started a thread a while back about the same bullshit. It seems as if they've gotten better in my case though.

QFT. I see this alot as well

They definitely cheat like this. They also prioritize new customers over old ones when sending out new releases.

I have more than one netflix account and I can see it in action.

Basically, just cancel your account and sign up w/ a new email address... you'll be treated like a new customer and service will be improved again. :D

Even your worst case scenario is better then my best case one.

(lives in Alaska)

I've spent over a week waiting for a new flick after mailing one off, it can be rather frusterating to plan ahead 10 days or so about watching a movie on a given night.

After about a month of heavy renting, my turn around between sending a movie back and getting a new one went from 3 days to 6. If they want to limit the number of dvd's I can rent in a month, fine, but say so up front. The way they throttle the amount of dvd's they send out and then blame the usps for the delay is disgusting.

This is the reason I ended my subscription. I was averaging something like 6-9 dvd's a month. =/

That's better than the week-and-a-half/two-weeks turnout time I'm getting from Gamefly. And that's during the 10-day free trial. Looks like I'll have to rent 360 games some other way.

I cancel typically then resub after a couple weeks. There really is a backlisting system as far as I can tell, its based on the number you rent. A month I was really busy and had several discs for 5 days or more and only rented, about 8 movies (with 3 out plan) and the next month the turnaround time was still fast.

Yeah.. I think they're already starting to do it with me, I'll probably cancel after the next batch of movies. I've only been a member for a month, but I usually have the afternoons off, so I watch a movie as soon as i get it and put it back in the mailbox the same day.. as such they probably hate me :lol

That's funny, considering I just returned some on a Thursday and received new ones on a Saturday. Then again I'm a pretty new customer. However, what is irritating me is how I am playing for 6 DVD's at a tiem and they are only sending me 3 at a time... the next 3 will come a few days later despite the fact that I returned all 6 at the same time. I suppose it could be worse. I still love Netflix.

I can honestly see Netflix's side of the situation.

While i'm sure they get a discounted rate on postage, i'm sure the membership does not fully cover postage of people who copy and mail back discs on a daily basis. Since they expanded distribution centers to the majority of the USA, making travel time one day, the number customers can rent who abuse the service, increased.

They had options, but only one that would really work. Delay turn around for customers who rent a crapload.

They could institute a "Number Free Rentals" per month and a "29 cents per disc after" stipulation. But that really hurts their advertising and motto.

They still, even with the increased turnaround, provide a really awesome service.

But here's the thing... if they're advertising "unlimited" rentals, they have to provide that. I am sure some of the other high volume renters would gladly pay a small fee for rentals over a certain # a month to avoid this kind of holdup, but it's irrelevant becaue they're misrepresenting the service that you're actually paying for by doing this (hence, the class action lawsuit, which I've already gotten a settlement offer on).

Really, if they want to be able to offer "unlimited" rentals, that might just mean either having a per-month fee that's high enough to make money off of even high-volume rentals or having a business model that's built so that the number of comparatively low-volume renters offsets the losses incurred by the high-volume ones...

I'm sure this is why Netflix would like to switch to electronic distribution ASAP, but that doesn't mean they can cheat their customer base in the meantime.

Yeah, but you ARE getting unlimited rentals, its just the turnaround time is changing.
Don't get my wrong, I don't agree with netflix, but I can see where they are coming from.

Is this thread a repost? I'm confused, because the lawsuit has been settled. Tthe end result was basically existing subscribers get a free "upgraded" month (4 movies instead of 3), but of course you have to cancel it and if you forget you get billed the extra $$$. Oh yeah, and the lawyers representing the defendents in the class action suit received over 2 million dollars. Got to love the American legal system at work.

Sometimes, when I ejaculate and I think it's all come out, I put my pants back on...and a little more comes out. It's such bullshit!
