I thought Tommy Tallarico was fired and his work removed from Metroid Prime?

Some of the people here at GAF are blind to the fact that there are alot of people out there that don't like quirky games or even 2d games. Shit, you could probably say 2d gaming as a whole died when arcades died. Alot of gamers just don't have fun playing those types of games anymore. I know people that would rather play a bloody and gory game than something weird and off the wall like Katamari Damacy.

man, this thread is nintendo fans at their worst... hoping somone dies because of their opinion? holy shit.

I have no problem with that, but some people actually like those games and would like to know if they were made well within the confines of the genre or style. I don't want to hear why he hates the whole genre.

As a counter example, Adam Sessler abosultely HATES Square RPGs. But the most the he does is joke about it--his opinion doesn't form the base of a review. The kind of logic that Tallarico uses is the same shit that GI tried to pawn off weeks ago with that PM2 score, and they were rightly blasted for it.

I like that Tommy voices his opinion so strongly. It's sad when gamers want to see him die for having an opinion. I'm sure many of you who said that are fanboys of certain games or systems yourself. He's dissed a lot of games, not just Nintendo games so I don't think it's fair to label him as a Nintendo hater.

I remember that Electric Playground review of SSBM and I must admit that I fully agree with that review. After playing SSBM, I did not enjoy it like other fighting games. I found it to be a very shallow game. I hope you gamers don't wish death upon me as well. :(

Victor Lucas: Today we're going to be taking a look at the new golf game "Ribbit King." Now this game is like a traditional golf game, but with a frog instead of the ball. I think it's an interesting concept that gamers will enjoy.

Tommy T: ARE YOU FUCKING CRAZY?!?!!!!!!!! THIS GAME SUCKS!!! (arms flailing violently)

Victor: I thought it was a fun concept, but it may not be for everyone.

Tommy: WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU LISTEN TO THE TITLE SCREEN MUSIC ROLL THAT CLIP NOW

:::clip plays:::

Tommy: LISTEN TO THAT CRAP IT SOUNDS LIKE IT WAS FROM A KEYBOARD FROM 1991 WTF

Victor: Let's talk about the game play. You don't actually hit the frog, but you when you hit the stick it's on, sort of like those carnival games...

Tommy: ....THAT'S IT!!! YOU JUST HIT THE A BUTTON AND WATCH THE FROG JUMP AROUND!! YOU DON'T FUCKING DO ANYTHING!!! OOOOH WOW!!!

Victor: But it's a golf game.

I love those guys. :)

I hope Tommy dies, after witnessing his "review" of SSBM on Electric Playground. Even the other more reasonable guy hated the game.

Dudes TOTALLY got bought out on that review. I swear one of the quotes was something like "Once again Nintendo thinks they can sell a game that just has a bunch of their mascots hitting each other. Nintendo, please grow up."

Yo, STFU assholes!

Are you suggesting that a company actually paid them to give a game a negative review?

nbots am crying

nintendo fangirls making death threats. so what's new?

....

when you are giving points to the Incredible Hulk game because Jennifer Connelly appears in the movie, there is something terribly wrong.

Well... I don't know about that

Seriously, Tommy is like a joke forum character on TV representing game media. He is soon to be the next Governor of Minnesota.

Tommy rocks. If I had a TV spot, I'd totally trash quirky games, Nintendo or otherwise.

Fuck, I'd give a game a 10 just because Jennifer Connelly lived in the same state as the developers.

Halo is the best game in the world and bla bla bla.' Just look, they like Halo because they like Halo and if I don't like Animal Crossing or Pikmin or or or or (give me another one) Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, (Monkey Balls is fine) yeah, yeah, so, like I I then leave me alone."
No wonder Xbox fans like him.

This can't hurt...

He keeps ragging on Nintendo. Makes me chuckle form time to time ;P
I only like him when he bags on Nintendo.

God, I love how often he gets topics made about him. Unfortunately the site that has the wonderful video of him is down. (He says there's no such thing as an Xbox fanboy. I'm serious. He said straight out that there are no Xbox fanboys.) I don't get G4, but I used to be a heavy poster at the forums. His fans are dumbasses that think low scores mean he cares or some shit like that.

Edit:
Hey! Socreges got that from my forum. I typed that up from the video. :)

The fact he looks like an ass is something, but he does have some good music, MDK had a great score, i just finished Deus Ex and Alex Brandon did a wonderfull job, hows the music in Deus ex 2?i hope its better than the game......because the media didnt rate the game very well.

No, I got that from another thread. We've done this before. Nintendo fans [and gamers alike] saying why they don't like Tollarico. Then Xbox fans [and gamers alike] defending him for one odd reason or another.

Alright, here's the secret.

Nintendo fanboys are comedy gold. Sorry, but it's the truth. They're that 10% - the bizarre anachonism of kids that grew up playing classic Nintendo games but have refused to accept the changes in the industry. Sort of like Nintendo. Praying for equally bizarre games, like badass adult versions of Zelda.

And Tommy loves to taunt them, because it's fun, and it's entertaining, and they take his shit waaaay too seriously. They're like the gift that keeps on giving. And even though I disagree with at least half of Tommy's reviews, as long as he continues to do that, he'll be entertaining, and I'll watch him, and I don't think I'll be alone in that.

Are you one of those insane people who thinks that a review isn't - best case scenario - purely someone's opinion?

Work for GI perchance?

Christ, that's just as sad.

And no, he seems to genuinely believe a lot of what he says, rather than doing it just for the sake of "taunting" people.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend?

Back in the day when we were forced to have chip generated music, Tommy was the man. Earthworm Jim, Aladdin, and Cool Spot all rock. He did amazing stuff within the limitations of the Genesis sound hardware. Once the era of CDs arrived, the limitations were removed, and he had to compete with real composers, well, he became unimportant.

When someone says "Time to hit the road!" do you grab a stick and beat it against the street?

IMO I'm not some crazed Nintendo fanboy. But the review of SSBM sounded as if they played the game for 2 minutes, and left it at that.

Anyone who's played SSBM for a decent period of time would come to realise how deep the game really is. You can make any game sound really shallow no matter how much complexity it offers anyway.

Tommy Tallarico is an anti-nintendo, s.o.b. A real hateful man.

He should be flogged.

cause its quite obvious they didnt like what he was doing. considering they completely scrapped his work and all....

Meh... I've always seen Tallarico as the epitome of the casual gamer, who will hate a game like say, Katamari Damacy, only because they can't pronounce it.

Yeah, that about sums him up prefectly.

Kenji Yamamoto >>>>> TT

Fuck, when I first booted up The Bard's Tale for the PS2, a red film of rage temporarily blinded me when I saw the Tallarico Studios logo in the beginning.

He's done the occasionaly decent tune, but on the whole, I don't think he has much talent.

Actually, I just think he's one of those musicians who did great chiptune work, but was unable to make the shift to "CD quality" soundtracks when the 32-bit age came to be. Quite a few got lost in that shuffle actually.

Also, I have to also state my distaste for the guy. It's amazing how he can give so many people a bad name at the same time and with so little effort. It's an amazing gift actually if you think about it.

Jesus people, this is the guy who knocked points off Viewtiful Joe because he didn't like the term "viewtiful" and actually listed "too much reading" as a negative for Soul Calibur II. Soul. Calibur. II.

That might be true. I can barely remember his stuff. It may have been competent as in-game music, but it wasn't exactly classic material that I'd be humming days later (and consequently would try to track down OSTs over. IMO, of course.

Deus Ex 2 music was not good, the only decent rack was the intro that stayed true to the intro of the first Deus Ex.

That is all.

That's because Adam Sessler is a good reviewer and the man

Tallarico on the other hand blows, seriously I couldn't care less on if he likes a game or doesnt but the reasons he gives are complete and total BS

Well, I think he was once a good reviewer. I liked 'X-Play' alot more when it was 'Gamestop TV' and the show was so much more about reviewing and talking about games and less about making cheesey movie references, trying to prove that Morgan Webb is both purdy AND plays game, and Adam trying to prove how much of a loser dork he is. Honestly, I think the should could be so much better if they just axed Morgan and told Adam to calm down. But this is G4BoobzRCoolTechTV we're talking about, and that beloved era of TechTV is long gone. Oh teh s0rrows!
