My girlfriend's ThinkPad A22m only has 64MB of RAM, and the system specs say that the max it can accept is 512. If I stick a 512MB PC 133 stick in there could I, then, disable the on-board RAM? Will it freak out if I install 512MB in it?

The mobo's got 64mb internal configured with one empty slot on the bottom, which is the only RAM expansion slot.

If I pop a 512MB in there, what'll happen? From what I gather, the ceiling is 512MB, or at least that's what IBM's site says.

Do you have experience with this? I'd just get her a 256MB, but 512's better for me when I'm doing work on her machine. Suggestions?

Ok, I ordered RAM from newegg, and it didn't work. I RMA'd it, and it's on its way back.

I'm asking all those with IBM Thinkpad experience: Did you upgrade your RAM, and if so, where from? Where did you purchase your ram?

I really want to get something compatible without paying an arm and a leg. It's $85 for a 512MB stick of PC133, and I have no guarantee that it will work in this Thinkpad. The first stick I got from newegg didn't work. Suggestions, folks?

$50/hour, but no kissing on the lips and colors must be pre-separated
Chances are it'll just ignore whatever is beyond the capacity it can support. That is, it'll see the ram module as 448MB. I don't think it'll be a problem.
