If the Star Wars universe were distilled down to The Empire Strikes Back...

Then I believe the MCU would be distilled down to Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It's the best movie of the lot of them, with the best narrative, plot, and resolution. It does the best job of plopping you, as an observer, smack dab in the middle of an already decades old universe. It ties up loose ends of a nasty maguffin known as Hydra. It leaves you with enough to know this universe, and it's inherent imperfections, will carry on beyond your brief snippet of it. These are exactly the same traits Empire had.

Fight me.

All I know is that scene has got to be the slowest chase I've ever seen. I dont think one vehicle was going over 30 km/hr.

Winter Soldier is way more of an anomaly to the rest of MCU than ESB is to Star Wars but I get what you mean, both stand head and shoulders above their prequels and sequels…

I don’t get the love for Winter Soldier, it’s not even the best Cap movie, let alone best MCU movie.

The First Avenger is the best cap movie IMO.
Guardians of the Galaxy is the best MCU movie, and also better than anything post 80’s Star Wars.

I've actually just watched it twice today, and I can't get over how eminently watchable it is. I feel the exact same way about Empire Strikes Back, but I can definitely see what you mean by how anomalous it is compared to the others. It definitely has a different feel from other MCU movies, and in that regard it feels less like an MCU movie than ESB feels in regards to a Star Wars movie.

I would extrapolate from that one main divergence from both universes in this regard: George Lucas was plopping us into the Star Wars universe using film as his original source material, where as the MCU was borrowing from comic books. Lucas had less background for us to rely on, so he had to baby-step us into such a heavy scenario he was dropping onto us, so he couldn't deviate as much as the Russo brothers could with Winter Soldier. That's a trickier realm to pick apart, for sure.

The First Avenger is to A New Hope as Empire is to Winter Soldier; they're all great (and Guardians of the Galaxy is awesome), but Empire and Winter Soldier both hit differently.

I don't know, this feels like something George Lucas would film for the Phantom Menace. It's awful, but it's pretty much any Jar Jar Binks scene.

Rule #1 for these types of scenes...The sense of speed should feel faster than Paul Blart Mall Cop segway chase scenes.

George Lucas understood that rule. Bobba Fett team of baboons did not.

The Mandalorian had my expectations for Book of Boba Fett at stratospheric levels. More than I ever would have dared to hope had it not happened first.

It totally faceplanted. The story was medium and the execution was plain bad. Except the Mando episodes which bodes well for Mando S3 I guess. But the best Boba Fett episode is still the one in Mando when he gets his armor back.

Boba Fett was like Obi-Wan, worth one watch but I really never want to see it again. The crappy production value is the shit cherry on top that just makes Star Wars feel dead when you see it.
