If this is true? (The Matrix and Terminator = Same Story?)

3.Playahata.com- First off the majority of people don’t understand how the
Terminator plays into this lawsuit, they see a direct connection with your
manuscript and the Matrix film However the Terminator is a different movie,
they
get confused trying to figure out why you are suing both, please make the
connection for us.

Sophia: first the same people or movie house owns these two franchises. Ok,
The Terminator and The Matrix are actually “one book”. That’s my Third Eye
manuscript. It’s nine chapters but its all from the same source (no pun
intended) Terminator starts from the front of my book to the back. Matrix
starts from
the back of my book and works its way to the front. They are moving in two
opposite directions. My book was separated into two. The Third Eye is an
epic; my
book spans three time frames the past, the present and the future. Those
films do the same thing. The child in the first Terminator who is born to the
pregnant lady (Sarah Connor) grows up to be the same as the grown man
character in
the Matrix called Neo, it’s that chosen one, savior concept. Matrix starts in
the future, when technology has taken over. The Terminator was sent to kill
the child who was prophesized to destroy the machines. That intersects
directly
with Neo as being the one prophesized to bring the machine reign to an end.
One critic who is unaware of my lawsuit called the movies cousins but they
are
actually one in the same in the original.

If this is true... WHOA!

I want to read her version sounds really mind-blowing

Well, for starters, in the Terminator, the machines are out to kill every human they see. In the Matrix, the humans are needed for energy, so they're kept alive.

The lawsuit is bullshit.

Er, unless I'm missing something, these two franchises have absolutely no shared partners of any sort. Different studios, different production companies, different producers, etc.

Bullshit.

Dunno.. Hard to tell without her book. What things would the judge look for? Similarities arent good enough imo, since 99% of movies out there violate copyright laws.

I don't know. I always thought I Robot (the movie) could have made a great matrix prequel if they twisted it right.

Now even in my post title I asked "IF?"

Seeing all the replies no-one really took the time to think of "WHAT IF?"

The book is called “The Third Eye” and is an epic science fiction manuscript with copyrights dating back to 1981.

Are you people telling me Hollywood never stole an idea and ran with it?

Yeah, I just read it. If her story was copyrighted back in 81, and she actually sent them a copy in 86, I have to change my 'bullshit' to a 'maybe'. I mean, she has a point about their other scripts, and how strange it is that after their initial success they suddenly didn't want to give interviews(say what you want, but this is hollywood and that's fucking retarded).

thank you a "Maybe" is good enough for me

I would hate to tag her as one of those Micheal Jackson had my BABY money seekers...

I'm just trying to think what would it be like if Terminator = Matrix
If her story was true...

The Movies may still suck to some but the story would be epic I would want to read something like that

When Warner Brothers got the Terminator franchise rumor has it they considered merging it with The Matrix (making a fourth or fifth Terminator that will show the beginnings of the Matrix), but this lawsuit made them second guess that idea.

then I read this...?

So no connection or is there one?

Yeah Naz that would be my face if this was true.

Please WB leave my wonderful Terminator alone! Next thing you know theyre gonna tie in Total Recall with Riddick.

Sure... For one thing, WB doesn't "have" the Terminator franchise at all, only a distribution deal (US-only, even) for T3, and a first-look for T4. Nice try, though.

well not really...yet

Its called the Second Rennaissance. Does everything I, Robot did and beyond in only half an hour and was much better to boot :p

StoOgE

First tragedy, then farce.
Look, if anyone should be taking WB to court for the Matrix movies its the Gnostics. I dont know if there are any left..

But honestly.. what Sci Fi movie doesnt feature some chosen person? Ooohh a child who would save the world? When your sci fi book is dabbling in overused sci-fi themes it follows that something will come out later that is similar.

complete spoof. if that goes anyway forward, harlon ellison should have a great case against her, due to Soldier and Demon With A Glass Hand outer limits scripts being the actual inspiration for Terminator.

and they were written in the 60s...

I read about this thing on this very forum about a year ago (at least), so this is nothing new. Whether or not there's validity to it is another issue. Wouldn't surprise me though.

Yeah, I thought it was an interesting possiblity, then I read the beginning fo the Third Eye "story" on some other website. Pretty laughable.

This is bullshit... everybody knows it's ROBOCOP and Terminator that are tied together... not Matrix and Terminator. Where's Frank Miller when I need him....

Not to say I'm for this woman's claims, but just because something's ripped off doesn't mean it's 100% ripped off.

That part of the plot never made sense to me. After the first Matrix, i thought Neo would find out that humans willingly put themselves in the Matrix to escape from a polluted planet.

But anyways, I thought the Terminator series fit in quite well, it's like the Second Renaissance episode in Animatrix. While you're at it, i,Robot fits in quite well too.

remember... only the first movie is based on her manuscript.. the other two movies were the Brothers W pathetic and disatrous attempt to carry the story further..

so don't ask questions about her concept based on the second two movies or you will be scratching your head long time..

What lawsuit? The lawsuit against the Wachowskis? You're kidding right? MANY people INSIDE THEIR CAMP testified UNDER OATH that they walked around ON SET with copies of the manuscript. Samples were taken from the script that were created VERBATIM in the movie... It was even used in court the fact that the manuscript only covered in detail the first movie and the comparison that the first movie was critically acclaimed while the other two (not covered in the manuscript) were critically panned....

if the wahcowski's did really come up with the story, this is by far the most elaborate and extensive frame job ever in the history of the world.. I mean it would require the courts, their own employees, and pretty much everyone involved with them or the case to lie...

if you aren't talking about the W bros vs. the chick author then I am not familiar with the lawsuit you are referring to...

If you're drawing parallels simply because it deals with a robot "civilization" competing with / destroying humanity, you can tie in a whole hell of a lot more in sci-fi than just those few movies.

search yahoo news. she won the plagarism case and they owe her millions of dollars..

edit - nm.. it was edited since I read it... she hasn't won yet.. it is still in trial.. just all of the attempts to dismiss it have failed miserably... but the stuff about the witnesses is in there.

I find it very interesting that every article that references this lawsuit is an article on slccglobelink.com.

So basically there may or may not be a lawsuit(there is), and there may or may not have been people who testified on her behalf...(can't tell)

BTW here's the site championing her cause:

http://www.daghettotymz.com/matrix/matrix.html

How nice they even have her bank account and routing # for you to give donations to help support her legal fees....

So borghe... what article references folks testifying from in the camp on her behalf?

For the record folks the trial starts this July.

The one he linked says that credible sources from Warner Brothers testified to that.

Because Will Smith can't seem to not inject a role with his own personal "jiggy"...Keanu's deadpan style fits Neo perfectly. I'd hate to hear a bunch of smartassed quips from Will throughout the movies. "Yo Smith, BYTE this"(points to crotch)..."That Oracle can bake me some cookies anytime uknow'mmm'sayin'"

this (from the article)

According to court documentation, an FBI investigation discovered that more than thirty minutes had been edited from the original film, in attempt to avoid penalties for copyright infringement. The investigation also stated that "credible witnesses employed at Warner Brothers came forward, claiming that the executives and lawyers had full knowledge that the work in question did not belong to the Wachowski Brothers." These witnesses claimed to have seen Stewart's original work and that it had been "often used during preparation of the motion pictures."

yup... I don't think smith is a horrible actor (just like I don't think Keanau is a horrible actor), but they ARE horrible character actors... I would almost argue that the Neo character (as portrayed in "their" version of the story) was almost tailor built for Reeves. Stick Smith in that role and the movie would have changed drastically.. and he probably would have injected his "big willie" style into it... and what producer/director is going to say no? It sells movies... certainly not the Wachowski's whose only other experience was Assassins and Bound (no I won't let that go.)

Wait, are you trying to say that some random-ass Utah Community College's school newspaper isn't the most credible source in the nation?
